So I just found out my son has to be home Saturday for some school activity.  Thank mean I can make it Friday and Saturday.   So count me in for those days.

I am going to need a place to camp?  Anyone else doing this?

The county fairgrounds has camping with showers and toilets. It's just north of downtown Viroqua.

Asshattery abounds.  I'm out due to circumstances beyond my control.  Four letter word - work.      I hope I'm still employed next week.

Area Dining

Viroqua has several restaurants. For a full meal with all the trimmings, try the Firehouse. It's near the south end of town on Main (US 14/61). Good steaks, cajun dishes, full soup and salad bar.
Excellent authentic Mexican food can be found at Chilito Lindo, just south of the hospital at the intersection of Main and Rusk streets.
Regional seasonal cuisine is the specialty at the new Optimo Cafe, on Main in the middle of town. It is adjacent to an art gallery.
Basic midwest meals with chicken, fish, beef and pork are the mainstays at the Viking Inn, at Main and Decker (Wi 56)
If novel (though not exotic) dishes like curries, specialty pizzas, soups and sandwiches are what you're after, try the Driftless Cafe on Court Street. They also have excellent desserts and many craft brews. You may happen upon live music or a poetry reading, and there's usually art on display.
Karen's Kitchen has good diner food- great breakfasts. It's across from the fairgrounds on North Main.
Main Street Kitchen is just north of Karen's. It's a former Country Kitchen with pretty much the same menu. The Friday Fish Fry is pretty good- your choice of perch, Canadian bluegill or cod. You might be able to get catfish, too. I never go looking for catfish- I grew up on perch from Lake Michigan.
The Viroqua Food Co-op has an organic cafeteria, with a coffee bar and bakery. The muffins and scones are excellent, the soups are always good. Main dishes vary, but are usually tasty. Lots of vegetarian options there and at the Driftless Cafe.
Viroqua also has it's share of franchises: Subway, Pizza Hut, Culver's, McDonald's, and Dairy Queen.

7 miles north in Westby you'll find the famous Borgen's Cafe. The pies are to die for. Their hours are more breakfast and lunch, so it's best to get there early.
Westby is also home to Ole and Lena's Coffee Haus, which also has baked goods, candies and ice cream.
At the south end of Westby is the Old Towne Inn, a supper club with a full soup and salad bar and a variety of traditional dishes.

East of Viroqua is La Farge, where Sisters' Place, a new restaurant, has very, very good food at low prices.

Coon Valley is halfway between Viroqua and La Crosse, where Di Sciascio's has the best Italian you'll find this side of Madison.

There are a couple of local restaurants that are also good at the US 14/61 junction in Readstown, 10 miles to the south of Viroqua.

Tomorrow or Tuesday I'll post some riding routes.

LDW Meeting points and times?

It might be fun to meet up Friday night after people roll in to town. We can discuss options for rides and later get-togethers. Does 8PM work for everyone, or should we plan on something later, like 9 or 10? Depending on how many people would like to show up, I can reserve space at one of a couple places. Let me know (on this thread).

I have a room at the Vernon Inn and Suites for 9/3,4,5/2010. Still rooms available.

Doesn't look like much interest in this meet yet. Maybe some late interest?
