We all encounter stupid drivers and poor drivers every day.  Let's talk about what habits annoy you the most...

traffic light zombies. here it's common to have to sit through an extra traffic signal cycle, sometimes two, because some clown/clowns insist on allowing a gap of 12 car lengths to develop after the light turns green.

Traffic light zombies are more an annoyance than anything. "txtrs" on the other hand are downright dangerous.

My new "hate the most" is the assholes who blow through red lights. It's getting very prevalent here in good 'ol west Michigan. It used to be when a light turns green you give a quick look right then left and go. Now it's wait for fuckstick who thinks he/she can beat the yellow light 40 yards away then procede with extreme caution.

Wow, it's hard to pick just one.  Those are all deserving of being on the list.

Oddly enough, though, I gotta choose "slow and confused."  Those drivers really get me wound up for some reason.  Maybe it's because they're unpredictable.

If you're driving with purpose, I'll cut you a lot of slack.  But if you're floating down the street aimlessly, with the occasional last-second, no-signal, "oh, wait, is that where I turn?"  that behavior gets me fully irritated.

Left-lane zombies?  Just go around them.  That's what motorbikes are for.   Burnout

Tailgaters?  I'm usually the one tailgating.   Rolleyes

Stoplight zombies?  That's pretty irritating, but not a big problem in Seattle, at least in the city.   Shrug

How about the "Courtesy Turn Signal"?
It's relatively new around here, two cars in front of me, the first car signals to turn and slows down for the turn (normal).
The second car also turns it's turn signal on, but has no intention of turning, this is the "courtesy signal".
Once the first car has made it's turn the second car just turns off it's turn signal flasher and continues straight down the road.

Where the hell did this come from? Where the hell in the drivers hand book is this documented?

These are the same morons that won't use their turn signal when they are turning, but feel it's good manners to use the "courtesy signal"

These are the same morons who have "In Memory of" in their back window and set up mini cemeteries on the side of the road when one of their fellow poor drivers is killed there.  Crazy

The roadside cross thing has alway creeped me out to.  I just think that the cemetary is where to place a shrine to someone.

This "Courtesy Signal" issue sounds like a major problem though!  EEK!  I have never encountered it but thanks for the heads up! on a 2 lane country road that could be fatal.

Projectiles.  Careless people tossing things out their window.  I had someone toss out what looked like a beer can.  Seemed like they were deliberately trying to hit me.  If I hadn't been 2-up with the wife, I would have turned around and chased him down.  It was dark too, so I couldn't get a good description on the vehicle.

I probably cell phone users the most.
But I really hate 'em all !
And add to the list:
  • people who don't use the center turn lane correctly
  • people who insist on making a turn from the travel lane when a center turn lane is available
  • people who refuse to use any part of the shoulder for making a right turn
  • those same people who take FOREVER to make that right turn; forcing everyone behind them to come to a complete stop
  • people who see you turn on your signal, then speed up to drive right beside you. blocking you from turning
  • people who take 30 seconds to get up to speed after leaving a traffic light
(I've actually been stuck behind such people while bicyclists beat the next light before it turns red.)
  • people who won't pass a truck. They'd rather hang in it's blind spot or only a car length two behind it catching it's wind draft and/or gravel, sand, or other debris blowing off the truck.
  • etc ...

People that don't pay attention. This ranges from the idiot who is too busy talking on his phone to pull out into a gap in traffic, to the moron who has never figured out how to trip a light in their car.

As a newer PA resident (less than 5 yrs) & former NJ.

The 1 big thing that I see (outside of PA cities - as I don't live or travel to them) is people do not move over when making a left turn.

i.e. - In NJ its common (while traveling in a single lane) to move more towards the dividing line when making a left, so that the people behind U can get around U, while U wait for traffic to clear.

In fact in PA I see plenty of people pull right to make a left - honey ur not driving a 18 wheeler. Twofinger

Without a doubt it's people who drive in packs. I can deal with all the other idiots if I have somewhere to go.

Go faster, slower, or the same speed I don't care just stay the hell away from me, and don't create a rolling roadblock for those of us who like to travel a bit faster. I will split you to get to the next bubble, but I don't like having to do that. I don't want to be a member of your club when one of you screws up.

All the usual stuff thats been documented here, but here in Sudbury and elsewhere in Northern Ontario the one that just pins my needle is drivers who intentionally drive in your blind spot.  If you speed up to get them out of there, they'll speed up to stay there, same thing if you slow down. I've seen guys way back there honk on it only to slow down in my blindspot.

It gets worse though, if I'm in somebodies blindspot and speed up or slow down to get out of there, they'll match it! WTFH!

This just doesn't happen occasionally on the bike, it happens every time I'm out with the truck OR the bike.

The other thing that runs me up the wall is passing lanes. It doesn't mean race me you fuckin idiot then slow down to 10 under when the passing lane ends. Maritimers are the worst offenders on this one.

I wasn't going to post in this thread (I already see too many bad driving habits; I don't need to read about them here), but last night's commute was odd...

I'm on the KLR, doing about 75-80 on the interstate on the return commute. Traffic is light and a cruiser of some type merges onto the road behind me. He's wearing a turtle shell helmet, jeans and a white t-shirt; no gloves. I'm in the left hand land passing someone and he immediately runs up and gets into close "formation" position. I assume that he wants to pass so I slip in front of the car I'm passing. He doesn't pass. He just sits there. I wait a little longer, but I'm getting close to the next car so I pull out to pass. He follows me through the pass, right on my six (or would that be 6:30? He's off to the side). Anyway, I move over after my pass and he changes lanes right after me, once again in "my buddy" formation. Ok, maybe he's just heading for the upcoming exit, so I let him sit there for a bit. He doesn't take the exit and is still uncomfortably close. I move back into the left lane and chop the throttle. He rolls merrily past me, giving me a goofy-ass grin and a wave.

Slow/confused. slowpokes, traffic light zombies, seems like their brains just don't work too well, so I can cut them a little slack.

Cell phone use seems like a much more deliberate act.  No slack there.

But I really hate, as some one said, people throwing their garbage out the car window.  Not so much a problem when I'm on the road, but I can't believe the stuff I pick up next to the road(s) that run by my house.  Most maddening was that for over a year, the same two paper Starbucks cups were thrown on the street next to my property almost daily.  The street is the only way in or out of our neighborhood, so thank you neighbor!!!
