I have an 03 B12S and have toyed with the idea of getting a DL 1000... I am 6'5 240ish and although I havent ridden one I have thrown my leg over one and like their fit...
that being said, after a ride today a friend of a friend said WHY NOT GET A BUSA WITH RISERS... although it seems more bike than I could ever use it got me to thinking..hmmmmmm maybeeeeeee.....
any tall guys ride them and able to walk after a longish ride?

I'm long waisted but at 6'3" I know your pain.
I loved mine, I had Genmar 1.5" risers on there. 500+ mile days weren't a problem, plus I commuted on that bike anywhere from 70-100 miles a day with no issues.
I had the stock pegs on mine but lot of folks put Buell dropped pegs on theirs with no sweat. It's a 1.5" drop I think. Best thing to do is go sit on one!

I am 6'2" and I raised my bars 19mm and pulled them back about 25mm. Ran her from Texas to Prudhoe Bay and then to LA and back home on my way to Key West. A total of 13,000 miles in 3 weeks. And I can actually walk better after getting off than I can after driving for 10 hours in my company vehicle.
I did install the dropped Buell pegs and they really make a difference. I wish I would have had them on my Alaska run.

I'm 6'5" and came off of an '02 B12S. Risers, double bubble screen, Buell pegs made all the difference. Very very comfortable bike.

How did you get the bars back 25mm, if I may ask?
My Busa arrives tomorrow. The mods begin then....I have Helis, Buell pegs and a 19mm riser ready to go on

I was looking around for methods to move the bars up and back and came across a company that made spacers to go under the handle bar mounting plate which moved them up and back. Looking at their photos I copied it with a ghetto setup. I took a piece of 25mm thick aluminum stock and cut it to fit on top of the top triple clamp. I mounted that piece directly to the triple clamp and then marked new mounting holes for the bars behind the mounting holes for the spacer. I threaded the holes for new Allen Bolts and bolted the bars directly to the plate. My spacer is not finished good enough to get thrown in the Busy Little Shops trash
but it did the job I wanted it to do by moving the bars for my attack on Prudhoe Bay.
When I have a few $$ burning a hole in my wallet, I will probably spring for Helis or get a new handle bar mount machined that accomplishes the same thing.

Thanks - that's a good job, and very interesting.
I have the Helis on mine - a big difference, but the bars need to come up more.
Hopefully the Genmar 19mm spacer should be here before my weekend ride....don't you love the postal service!
