Greetings All,

Can anyone tell me how long one should allow to ride along the German Alpine Road, heading from the Western end to the East?

German Alpine Road MAP.

Some web site states 3 to 4 days. Does it really take that long or do you think that would also include stopping & siteseeing?

You could knock the distance out in a day.  But why?   Headscratch

Ralf would know  Smile

I'm guessing the 3 to 4 day estimate is for honeymooners stopping in every other quaint village to shop and browse for curios.

I'm guessing it would take me more than a day, maybe as much as 2 full days. All the little towns on the route will slow you down  Rave That may be my biggest gripe about riding in Europe. You'll leave a town and just when you get ready to stretch your legs, another town appears  EEK! Bigsmile

10.58 hours at a steady 30 mph. Quicker at night. Slower on a sunny weekend.  Smile

2 days with sightseeing - I just did it. But if you want to stop at all 3 Ludwig castles, that's a day on it own. I stopped at one and messed about with other stuff on the way in 2 days.

It's a good route, not a great route and can have lots of traffic.

And figure a half day to visit Partenkchn Gorge. Worth a visit is you have the time.

If you can't lead and don't want to follow, stay out of my way.
