21,xxx miles on my Multistrada and I started to notice a little clutch slipping.  So, since I was doing the clutch, I decided to bling it out a bit.

This first shot shows the old clutch basket (with notching) and the new one installed.

All finished up with new basket (Hard anodized Al), Barnett clutch pack, Slingshot pressure plate, stainless springs, and Speedymoto open clutch cover.

Bigok Speedymoto makes some good shit.

I have a Speedymoto front sprocket cover for the 1200 that looks great (annodized black & red), is very well made, and arrived in 1 day (order to door).

Wish they made more bling for the 1200.

It'll come.

BTW, I purchased my stuff from LT Snyder (www.desmotimes.com).  Good workshop manual, and the stuff he carries works well with Ducatis (ie he doesn't carry stuff that proves to be problematic).

Added bonus: He gives useful tips upon request.

Based on the notches in the original basket, it looks like it'll be a lot tighter and not bang so much.

The dirt is a point of pride for me.  Cool  Clean bikes= poser bikes.  Razz

Actually, next time I'm doing the clutch (probably less than 20K miles next time), I'm going to replace the engine side cover (peeling paint).

Probably will upgrade the slave cylinder and brake/clutch levers this fall when major service is due.

In the first picture, look at the tangs on the basket.  The one in my hand has "teeth".  This is caused by the clutch discs banging into the basket.  The new basket has no teeth (because it's new).  The notching makes the clutch louder because the gap.  Some of the slop may be from worn discs and some of it may from the notching.

I saw those...   that's a lot of wear. EEK!

It seemed so extensive I figured it couldn't have been caused by the clutch discs... I guess all that sound and fury coming from my open clutch is more than just show, huh?

(off to find some details of the clutch assembly now on lunch)

Washing your bike makes you a poser  Headscratch , but adding that bling does not?

I keep my bike clean, washing it allows me to inspect the bike. I don't worry what people think, I let my riding speak for itself.

My Multistrada goes out 3-7 days a week.  I run it year around (assuming no ice).  That means it runs through slop, salt, heavy pollen, explosions of bugs, rain, sometimes snow and whatever else is going on (road construction for example).

Washing the bike twice a month is as good as it gets.  I don't have time to wash it every week.  So sue me.  Lol

It causes slipping because the clutch plates are unable to be squeezed together as hard as they need to be due to the clutch plate getting hung up on the notch in the basket.
