A group of us are riding out to the Indy MotoGP and planned some of our route thru KY. Basically looking for some input on roads between Manchester KY up to Madison IN. So far we're using 421 up to 169 (thinking about doing the Valley View Ferry crossing) then on up to skirt around Lexington and pick up 421 again. Anything along the route that might be a better ride?

Thanks!

Pretty much nailed it. 169 is a fun little road, and the ferry is cool. Maximum wait maybe 5 minutes. Once you get to Bedford (just south of Madison) take 625 'til it joins back up with 421. Just a fun little loop that bypasses the boring of 421 to Milton.

Also, if you have some time to kill in Madison, or want to ride some more, take IN62 up towards Rising Sun and back, phenomenal roads in that neck of the woods.

you'll find 421 from Frankfort to Pleasureville really good.  From there north flat and straight however.  Madison is a really cool little river town with a great downtown area.

421 up to Berea is good.  From Berea north to Frankfort, expect traffic, try to avoid that area.

Many thanks again for the suggestions, we had a great trip!!! Oh and Guy...625 made me LOL thru that nice little section...riding along and all the sudden there's a short section of The Dragon plopped right down in the middle of tobacco fields. Too awesome.

Just ran through that stretch of 625 with Google Street View.  The Google camera car chased a guy on a cycle all the way through there.... Lol

In Madison there are also a couple of good Wineries (that's incase your wife/gf is riding with you).
