Installing Motoslider Frame Sliders, SV650
«

Hey All. I bought a set of Motoslider Frame Sliders for my SV650 [
link
]. Aparently they're simple to install because they came without installation instructions.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to install them?
Based on the below image from their website, I looked at my bike. There is a bolt already in this position on the bike. Does this get replaced by the provided bolt? Will removing this bolt disturb or affect the position of the engine? Or something else important? Is there anything I need to take into consideration when doing this?
Thanks. -=James

James,
They are simple to install, however there are directions which are needed. You replace the large bolt that is already in the bike. The instructions say which way to put in the sliders -- one is supposed to go on one side -- and the torque setting which is important. I believe the instructions are in Dot's garage where we installed them. I'll check with her; I think we could post a copy here.

James, I have the instructions. I have to scan them in and send. Let me figure out how to do that and I will. I think the scanner at work is better than my home one, so will try both and see how to affix to ST.n. Perhaps you can PM me so we can do this over email?

In fact, yes, my home scanner is hosed as I recently bought a Dell and my HP scanner/printer does not know how to talk to this PC. I will scan in at work tomorrow and send to you as a pdf.

BTW. how do you like your SV? I had mine into the shop for her 1 year tune up. They adjusted this and that, but the biggest difference I noticed was the throttle was less twichy. It was interesting learning on a bike that would just jump ahead of you if you turned the throttle ever so slightly. I got used to it, but the new adjustment is much better. Do you have any issues with this? And also, the frame sliders work very well....twice....for me...no at-speed drops, just parking/garaging stupidity.

Below is the directions from my memory. I'm 90% sure this is accurate, but I'll have to check the instructions when I get home.
Remove the factory bolt, if I remember correctly you will need 2 17mm sockets.
The Motosliders will have one nut that already has locktite on it, and is pre-tightened from the factory. Remove the opposite nut, slider, and washer.
Slide the bolt through the bike from the right side of the bike, leaving the slider with the small shoulder in place.
Install the washer on the left side, use blue locktite on the threads, install the slider, then the nut. Torque to 65 ft. lbs. You will need at least one deep-well 19mm socket (for the left side) and one 3" extension (for the right side.)

IIRC, the guy who makes the motosliders (Nate, I think) is an active poster over on svrider. You may want to ask over there as well.

Thanks guys. You all rock! Dot emailed me the instructions earlier today. I was going to put off the install for a day or two until it was a little warmer down in my garage. But who am I kidding? That would delay gratification too long. So I ran out to the auto store and bought a torque wrench, some sockets, and some LocTite.
I'll be putting the sliders on tonight. I'll let ya' know how it goes!

Wow, that was easy! It helped to have a second person to hold the socket wrench on the right-hand side of the bike. But all told, opening the box to the final turn of the torque wrench took no more than 5 minutes. Thanks for all your help.

Congrats and you are welcome.
BTW, Dot says they work -- just take her word for it.
