Has anyone made it over Beartooth pass this year?

I am wondering if the road construction near the summit s complete.

Also, how about WY 296, Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy, is there any construction on between Cooke City, MT and the summit/pull out?

Lastly, any recommendations for beer and steak in Red Lodge, MT?

I am planning a trip for September 10th or so.

Thanks.

Hmm...  I obviously need to visit the pass this year.  Wasn't aware there was construction.

As far as food in Red Lodge, walk up and down the street and pick your poison.  Its only three blocks.  I have only tried a few places, but haven't had a bad experience.

I just rode the pass a few days back during the Iron Butt 5000 rally, at 1:30 in the morning... in the rain...with temps in the low 40s.  The road at the Summit was still under construction but the gravel sections were not difficult to ride even under less than ideal conditions.   For the record..... I would not recommend riding the pass in the middle of the night in the rain!

Thanks.... I was cheering for Peter as well..... but to be honest... I was cheering for me more. Banana

You will have to ask Peter about his new nickname..... IB Peter....  The IB does not mean Iron Butt.....

I rode over in early June...weather was perfect up top albeit quite a bit of snow. There was no road construction on 212 or Chief Joseph. I stayed in Red Lodge for three days and ate here twice. Fantastic....http://www.eatfooddrinkwine.com/    The hotel in Red Lodge I would highly recommend is The Pollard. Free breakfast every morning...anything off the menu. Thumbsup http://www.thepollard.com/
