Greetings,

Not much happening on the Suzuki subforum here, so....

Washed the bike yesterday and took some shots.  Haven't ridden for a while, but went yesterday.  I have to ride more.

The bike is a 2007 SV1000S and bought used in 2008.  I've done some comfort mods to it, such as Convertibars, Kuryaken Sport Bike Grips, Buell Pegs & Sargeant seat.  Aside from frame protectors and a Givi screen, it's stock.  I'd like to get exhaust but would rather do suspension mods next.  I'd like to get a new bike (think KTM SM-T), but this one is paid off and, although not perfect, it does have it's good points... handles well and the engine is fun.

It's been on a 4 day Labor day excursion through upstate NY and New England, and then last spring a 5 day journey to PA, OH, WV, VA, PA and home.  One can read about it here...

Nice!

Here's a pic of my old '07 SV1k:

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q232/tragik53/Pilot%20Mountain%209-28-08/0013.jpg
Had it for a little over 2 years, put nearly 30k miles on it, did a IBA ride on it, along with numerous other rides...

Long story short, I sold it, bought a FZ1 (which I hated), and recently picked up another '07 SV1k.  Smile

Only thing done to my new one is modify the stock clip-ons to make them taller, added a Zero Gravity ST screen, speedo healer (previous owner changed the gearing), and put a gel seat on it. Luggage on the way, Corbin next, and then exhaust most likely.

Some very nice SVs! That TL/SV/DL engine is a treat, and I'm sad that Suzuki hasn't seen fit/found it economically feasible to do the work to get it to pass current US emissions.

How do you like the gel seat?  I have a Sargeant on it now and have considered the gel seat as well.

I'll join in on the sharing.

Picked up this 05 SV1000S on July 30 with 16000 km on the odo.

Previous owner had farkled it a bit already:
- Yosh pipes
- flush mounted all the turn signals
- gel seat
- aggressive fender elimination and undertail
- a few anodized bits - bar ends, oil cap
- Gel seat
- wired for heated vest
- dark screen

My impressions so far:
- love the motor and the way it produces
- Yosh pipes are almost a little loud for my taste, and a little off-throttle backfiring needs to be tuned out
- i don't mind the leg room whatsoever (* If found my prior bike, a Suzuki RF900R much harder on the knees)
- bars are too far out for me, around town it is a little too much strain, and also the angle towards me seems a little off, which adds to the strain
- range isn't great (looks to be max 250 km to a tank)

So, to set-up for sport-commuting and sport-touring
- GIVI toprack and E36N (done)
- LSL or Convertibars -- winter project (must)
- sideracks and sidecases (maybe)

Here it is the day I bought it:

Before rack installation:

Two shots with the rack and E36N on it:

Apparently the black one is popular?

It sucks. It's worlds better than the stock seat, but it's still pretty bad.

Stock seat was good for about 50 miles without my ass being on fire.

Gel seat is good for about 125 miles before my ass in on fire.

Corbin seat on my old F4i was good for week long rides.

I'll happily trade you my gel seat plus $100 for your sargeant though. Bigsmile

Hmm.  I don't find it too bad, but its still early in my relationship with the bike -- so maybe that flaw will look worse after a while.  The only complaints I've heard about the Sargent and the Corbin is that they are a little lower, which exacerbates the legroom issue for some.

YMMV

I've got a Sargent on mine.  I find it alright on a day-long ride but NFG for a multi-day trip.  Hence the beads.

I am a little lardy, which may be why I don't like the gel seat.

Corbin seats though, atleast on my old F4i, fit my ass like a glove. More comfortable than my throne at home. Bigsmile
