It was great spending some time with them. In 24 hours we:
- fixed Zed's bike which had lost its battery....went belly-up big time
- spent a couple hours rummaging around many barrels in the winery, barrel-tasting more than our deserved share of our 'in process' wines
- had a fab dinner and conversations & fun into the wee hours of the morn
- rode for about 1.5 hours today around my favorite local back road loop with Keith (Zed) and I swapping bikes...me on his WR250X and him on my Sprint. Musta looked like an odd couple indeed. LOL!!! I had a HOOT on that bike!

They are off to Sheridan on their Sprinter with the two WR250X's strapped inside, to attend some major Unimog gathering....the perfect world adventurers. Yet another reason to head up there for a week with my better half -even if it's in the cage

Well I am jealous, talking about wine making and barrels sparks a lot of memories  with my Dad and Grandpa, sadly they are both gone with out me inheriting the secret touch for good wine making. I do remember several trips to the local grape supplier we never took the first shipment that I remember was a cardinal sin, the sugar content had to be just perfect. How gramps new by sight taste smell and texture I will never know. Hours and hours cleaning oak barrels, carrying grapes in and mash out, and in the end 250 gallons every year of "nectar of the gods" as gramps would say.
I am coming next year that's a given to ride some of those roads and maybe search out a place for my retirement job  Lol I know how a clean barrel should look and smell  Bigsmile

Yes, by all means! Hopefully by late summer of next year we'll have OUR winery up and running -today we share space with another winemaker at his shop- so who knows? Maybe we'll have lots of barrels to 'clean' out.  Wink

Love to have you....!

We're back home again after the 11+ hour drive from Vancouver today.  The house sitter put the ST3s tires that were delivered while we were away in the garage Thumbsup

Now to unpack the Sprinter & remember how to cook.... Headscratch

Thanks again for a great visit, Galo.    Now that we've found the way to your house winery I'm sure we'll be back Lol

Our pleasure, friends.....it was great having you...anytime.

I am miffed at Zed's battery going flat again....you definitely have either a current leak (easy to check with a multimeter) or a dead alternator/rectifier. If the current leak test is nil, time to head over to the dealer....

We did some testing last night & are unsure if it is the regulator/rectifier or the stator (what is it with us & Yamaha stators? Headscratch).  Our digital meters don't measure low enough resistance to get a good reading on the stator (we'll hunt down one of the analog meters we have around here for some more testing)...  Swapping regulators between little bikes produces different results between little bikes, which seems to swing the balance in favour of a bad stator.  More testing is needed tonight/this weekend before we get some parts on order.

ps.....  You think *you're* miffed Lol Lol Lol  I ended up towing him up a hill at NWMF to get the dead bike back to the Sprinter.  THAT was interesting on street tires off pavement... Cool

Why push when you can be towed by a motard sliding sideways in the gravel?!  (Strap hooked to a footpeg on each bike makes for some interesting feelings. Crazy)

New stator is on order Thumbsdown

Further testing swapping regulators back & forth between the little buggers (Having a pair of the same bikes is very convenient Thumbsup) produced repeatable results.  Good charging on my bike with both, no charging on Zed's with either.

Supposed to take two weeks to get the part. Sad
