Took, my NTM 07 Electra Glide Standard on a nice 150 mile ride this morning, it was great. There is a story behind this purchase which I posted in the General Forum yesterday, probably should have posted here. One question was brought up in that post on my swapping the stock shield for a 4" due to buffeting. Today's ride reinforced my original findings, the original shield caused the air to hit just the top of my helmet causing annoying vibration above 50mph. The short shield allows all of my helmet to remain in the flow, no vibration at all. Any of you folks have a comment on this?

Congrats on your new ride
I took a 2010 Electraglide Ultra Classis out for a test ride about a month ago and I didnt feel any buffeting at all. The bike was stock and I am 6 ft tall. What and incredible ride/feeling.

Congrats on the new ride! I agree on using a lower shield most of the time. I like naked bikes for the same "clean air" benefit and even a fly screen or low shield helps move a lot more air than many realize. In very cold weather a larger/standard screen can be nice, but any obstruction like these XXL barn door shields that some use is beyond any benefit I can imagine. Torso height, helmet choice and weather certainly make for one size doesn't fit all and it's easy to change if you find the need.
Safe travels and cheers!

I never found a road glide or road king or electra glide screen that offered adequate protection AND didn't cause helmet rumbling. You have to basically run a shorty screen that's not much better than nothing.
On my FXD I just wore a full-face and went without the windshield. I haven't gone back to open-faced helmets. I got hit by a grasshopper at 80mph, right between the eyes. Felt like I'd gotten shot.

Tried a few different shields, have a Cee Bailey SSC on order. I have a 6" Wind Vent on it now.

The stock 4" on my Street Glide had a bit of buffeting, I put on a 6.5" ClearView with the recurve and problem solved , I keep it on year round.
