I'm sure it sounds like a stupid question, and it probably is.  I'm asking because I've been looking at Sprints, but I live in the middle of nowhere.  The bikes I've found lately are a good 6+ hours away.

I don't mind riding a bike that far, but I need to get there first, and I don't want to have to drag another person along to drive a vehicle back.  Besides, it may be a bit colder by the time I can do something, and I'll be at the mercy of Saturday/Sunday weather.  I don't have a trailer or a vehicle to pull one (transmission in Explorer is slipping).

That leaves me with a van - specifically, my wife's minivan.  I've hauled a dirt bike in her van (seats down or out), but that was a lot lighter.  Loading a full-size bike in a minivan might be a stupid idea - I'm just curious if it's possible.

How tall is a 99-01 Sprint?  Does the front fairing/windshield come off easily?  Any tricks to making one shorter for transport?

48" tall. Taking the windscreen off is very easy but will not do much for you as it is the same height as the side supports. Taking the whole front fairing off would be a pain in the ass. If it wont fit in the mini van, I'd suggest renting a small uhaul truck.
