UK Newbie...............

Just wanted to say Hi!
My names Rob and I live in East Sussex....
After a succession of VFR's and a brief dabble with a Kawasaki ZZR1200 I purchased a ZZR1400 in November last year and absolutely love it.
Although mainly a "fair weather rider" this bike is so addictive I've put just under 2,000 miles on her since I bought her.
Mods include a set of Area P Stainless "slip ons" (imported from the States) and I'm just in the process of having the secondary 'flies removed and a Power Commander fitted to release the power from lower down the range.
The bike is well documented for not coming "alive" until she hits 5k...and I've been advised that this mod is a "must do".
Often find myself at Boxhill in Surrey on a Sunday morning, or the Oakdene Cafe in Wrotham to meet up with other members of the VFR Club that I am still a member of. A nicer bunch of people you couldn't wish to meet.
Just wanted to touch base.
Rob

Hey Smiffy, welcome to STN! You should post over in the beginners forum and say hi to everyone over there as well. Unfortunately us Brits are under-represented on this board so this forum doesn't get checked that often! There is a great community here and even if you knew everything there is to know about bikes you'd still manage to learn something from the guys (and girls) around here!
Welcome to the club

I go to the Oakdene quite often for breakfast on a Saturday and during the summer on Thursday nights. Try to avoid the VFR guys though, they seem to get upset when they realise they ought to have bought a Triumph Sprint
Actually, in all seriousness, I didn't know there was a VFR meet up there, when is it?

Nothing regularly planned Damian, it's just that when we do meet up it's either at the Oakdene or Boxhill. The run up to Boxhill is a big gutty for me from where I am so if we have a rideout planned "down South" the Oakdene will usually be our meeting point.
Quite a few of the members are from Kent so it makes an ideal start point for them.
And they get wound up 'cos you tell 'em they should have bought a Sprint? You want to see the flak I get now for owning a proper bike

Hello and welcome Smiffy. I've only ventured down to Box Hill once. Ever been down to the Poole Quay meet during the summer months? I usually try and get down as often as I can.

Is it just me or are there more UK STNers these days than there used to be? Could be good to arrange a meet sometime when the weather is more consistently dry!

UK readership is a bit inconsistent, but we've had a couple meets: Keswick and Llangollen. We took day trips out. Never more than six bikes, but fun.
Orson is lobbying for a West Country trip.

However small the UK community of STN is, it's never to small to have another 'Rob Smith' aboard.... more the merrier, Welcome.
After a long biking drought, I bought myself an SV1000S a few months back and although I've been East & West, I haven't yet ventured down south (I'm based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire)... although weather dependant, I may be passing through your way on the Easter bank holiday weekend to head over to France for a bit of fun. Any roads good roads you can recommend down that way?

There is a meet of London bikers at Borough Market on wednesday, I might pop in them too. Any takers for that?

The market is a big place. They don't mention a specific location. However, the photos they show are of, or around, the Market Porter – the best pub in the area. Real ales and plenty of them. Crowded. The local chapter of CAMRA hold their meetings there. Not a biker bar, but certainly suitable.

I am going to swing past on the way home from work, probably be on the blue sprint 1050 abs with top box. Then I am going to pop into the Oakdene for a cup of tea on the way home. Anybody want to tag along let me know.
