Dust to Glory
WOW what a movie....netflix streaming
I figured I would post it here instead of Movies thread due to the UBER dirt presence in the movie.
Amazing story of the Baja 1000.
McKay trying to do the entire run SOLO on his dirt bike -- I cannot even imagine 10+ Hours running near 100 mph through dirt, jumps, bumps, cactus and silt as deep as the handlebars and doing that non-stop as fast as possible even after dark- He lost his mind about 7 hours in, kept talking in circles - Some of the nighttime helmet camera footage was unbelieveable-- 125 feet of visibility, 100mph taking turns that don't even look like they are there, hitting camelbacks over and over then jumping a ridge to "hopefully" find the landing spot in the dark?! The locals lighting fires to help mark the course at night. Watching trophy trucks take a 100+mph jump and sail a good 80 feet past the crowd that is WAY too close to the track (15 feet if not less)
I would love to try it...but I fear I would be one who probably would not finish.
Truly a wonderful movie that I will be watching again and again.

I watch it every time I go visit Pop. Probably seen it 10 times.
Yes an amazing watch - even if you are not a dirt junky.
Thanks for the positive press -others should know how awesome it is.

Awesome and well-put together documentary of an amazing race. I can't count the number of times I've watched it and I enjoy it every time.

Same for me. Mouse McCoy is an inspiration. Quite a few riders have attempted to "ironman" the 1000 in recent years with several completing the race. Travis Pastrana even did a very low key run a few years ago before having to retire due to a mechanical after something like 800 miles. Baddasses one and all.

I rode downtown and saw it at the theater when it was first released. There were a total of 11 people in the theater
and four of them were my friends who had enticed to go. It's not quite "On Any Sunday", but it's great fun to watch. I've watched the DVD several more times at home when I needed a diversion from work and reality.

Bought the DVD several years ago -- have watched, and shared it with others, many times.
Dana Brown's narration is fantastic (reminiscent of his dad's work on "On Any Sunday");
and the video is incredible.
Of course, then there's the race

Bought it when first released. Excellent flick. Had followed the various 4-wheeler Bajas in print over the years. To see that pitch black desert streak by in a headlight tunnel at 100+ mph was still amazing.

I also saw it in the theatre when it was first release but the theatre was almost full
I confess that riding the KLR home that night through the streets of Seattle I felt like a badass

I use the line "Ya ma ha, motorcycle from a piano company, bet that's the last one of those you see over here" quite a bit
