 I want a tl1000.  I think they are one of the best looking bikes ever made.  I was going to buy this one, but it just does not have the giddy up that I was looking for.  Dam dam dam dam.  I can't stop thinking about it.

Must be something wrong with the one you tried (besides an ugly paint job).  TLs only problem was too much HP and torque for the frame and suspension technology at the time.

The truth. There were many bikes putting out more power that handled far better. Nothing Ohlins.Penske and a serious diet won't fix.

Of every bike I have ever ridden in the last 27 yrs, the best motor, bar none, was a TL1000R. Aside from the char broiled right thigh.

Something must have been wrong.  My brother-in-law had one- near impossible to keep the front end down on hard acceleration.  Of course his had all the engine mods done, but whoa...   Bigsmile < all day.

It would be a 4th bike for me and I want something that is faster than my concours 14, that also would handle better.  I think the TL1000 is the pretties bike that has been made, but it is tame in the motor end.  I would bet it is the slowest of the liter bikes.  I would be owning it right now if I had not ridden it before I bought it.  

O well a busa, or zx14 will come along at the right deal sooner or later.  The busa or 14 will just not be as pretty.

6000 rpm on a single cylinder thumper is like 14,000 rpm on an inline 4  Bigsmile

The one gripe I had with my RC51 was the lack of power. Sure he handled ok and looked good but it sure was frustrating having 600's right there with me on the straights. But then again maybe I have issues because the 186/109 my ZX14 laid down on the dyno just about bores me to tears. Did someone say turbo?

It is not about riding 150, it is about the pull the bike puts on the bars.  Fast to 70 or so.  The TL1000 just did not do it for me.  It felt 750 ish.

Not like a liter bike.  I was hoping for the pull you find from an R1 or gxsr 1000 and it just is not there.  If it was, the bike would be in the garage right now.  Like I said, looks sweet, sounds sweet, but low on thrill.

Sounds like that bike isn't representative of the TLs I've ridden. Overweight turds but ran like a '72 Cadillac with a 502 CI engine. No lack of grunt whatsoever.

The TL isn;'t a litrebike. Nor is the RC51. Never was.Both were invented to compete with 750 cc fours in racing, back when superbike rules pitted 750cc fours against 1000 cc twins, thanks to Ducati having the rules structure modified to suit themselves.
When compared to a 750 cc four (GSXR?) the TL is very competetive in the motor department.
Would a GSXR1000 suck the paint right off it? Absolutely.
