Does anyone know how much reserve capacity is built into the FJR's electrical system on the 1st gen FJRs?  This will the the first year I've ever ran electrically heated gear, all my years previous I have been keeping warm by many many layers.

Besides the heated jacket liner which draws 76watts/6.7amps at full tilt I've got my Zumo which draws very little power something like .5amps, and my Beltronics radar detector which draws an unknown amount of power.

Thanks for any help,
Josh

You won't have any problems,  I run a gerbings coat and gloves with no problems. Discussions on Fjrfourm.com led me to the conclusion that you don't need to worry unless you are running big driving lights in addition to heated gear.

I don't know the exact numbers, consult fjrforum.com for more detail.

Be careful asking before searching over there.

There is a "bin o' Facts" at FJRforum.com. Search there for your answer.

Lol  Yeah, searching is the accepted procedure there.

Just to save you the work -- experience from the early owners suggests you have 120-130 watts spare capacity in the Gen I.

That figure comes from the most excellent Bin O' Facts compiled by fjrforum moderator Ignacio (and mentioned by ack above, who posted while I was typing). ack's right -- you should check it out. The link is:

Thanks for the advice  Bigok  Looks like I'll be throwing a set of heated grips on there while I'm at it Smile

Yeah, when we give you a convenient page with the links and ask you to affirm you'll look at them...most people ignore it and ask later.

You're the first person though I've seen ask on another forum. The FJR Forum Model Matrix and other stuff in the New Members area are great resources too. Wink
