Piaggio already has a 3 wheeled version - the MP3.
But the 4 wheeler looks cool.

Wonder what the specs are (motor/weight) as the Piaggios are fun but not exactly fast.

Lawmakers will have fun with this one.

Having 4 wheels makes it ..... uhhh....   what exactly *is* a motorcycle, anyway?

What's the market for this? People who fall over on the Piaggio MP3?

People like the handling dynamics of a moto but not the fall down dynamics of a moto?...
(which the MP3 will do if left to it's own recognizance)

I think for city commuters in winter it makes a hell of a lot of sense.

Weave across train tracks and edge traps in the wet like the rider in the vid did and see what you think.

Except that an MP3 will do all that and still qualify for the carpool lane.

I'm pretty sure this is the result of the 4MC project (http://www.4-mc.co.uk/).

This is a seriously bad-ass development. Stop thinking of this as a non-motorcycle -- it's basically just replacing our single tires with duals and vastly increasing traction and control. (Yeah, it's "just a scooter" now, but imagine it on a full-sized "real" motorcycle.)

Check out the videos of the 4MC slipping and sliding on slippery pavement. You could ride something like this through the winter and not have to worry about ice.

Very cool.  Always liked the concept of the MP3 and the 4 wheelers look even better for slippery surfaces.  I'd rather do short drone commutes on one of these, than a regular bike, if only to keep the feet/legs drier in the wet and have underseat storage for a helmet+.

However, I can't be certain but it looks like the steering is highly mechanical and designed to steer into turn, even at speed.  If so, that would surely fook you up for counter-steering on regular bikes Crazy.  Has anyone driven an MP3 and can comment on the steering (counter or into)?

Take this concept, slap in a nice 1400CC engine, a proper gear box, keep it narrow and keep it so that you could lean into corners where by the wheels slanted and well....you could in theory have the worlds fastest bike!
With greater contact patch......oh brother! Think of the fun!

I've ridden the MP3 500.  Steers just like any other bike.  With the benefit of the front end feeling absolutely glued to the road.

See, there is the sticky point of this Quadro 4.
If it is classified as a 'car' then you can't take it in the carpool lane unless you have a passenger .
But if it is a car, then you do not have to wear a helmet (for argument's sake talking about CA).
But if it is a car, then it needs seat belts, air bags etc....

So... it had better be classified as a bike, and then it can be used in the carpool lane with just a single rider.

But, how do they determine licensing standards for this?  Cuz that is a separate matter.
Would you need a moto license, or would just a car driver's license do?
