If you can't get 40mpg out of a 1000cc motorcycle you've got issues.

I've gotten 40mpg out of a 1000+cc motorcycle no more than a handful of times in my life.

I truly think Kwak is onto something here.  If it's around 500# dry, that thing's gonna kick some serious VFR ass.

In a lot of ways, it's a Bandit 1200...only more modern.

It's supposed to be 500 pounds wet. Well, maybe that's "curb weight". Does curb weight include fuel or ready to ride with an empty gas tank?

Wikipedia (for what it's worth, first response on Google search) said curb weight is fully wet (with fuel) and no passengers or cargo.

I've been dreaming of replacing the ol' (8+ yrs.  EEK!) ZZ-R12, but 'til now haven't found anything remotely interesting/practical/affordable/lustable by comparison.

Embarassment Needs a centre-stand option though...

+1 on that. The ergos look pretty comparable to the VFR, Sprint and my SV1000. I've ridden all three and find that a slight forward lean is actually a good thing (for me, at least).

Anyway... this thing comes with fully adjustable usd forks, radial mounted brakes, petal-style rotors, an engine that delivers around 122 hp, hard luggage and heated grips.

Would anyone that likes this motorcycle prefer that it came shaft driven?
Just curious.

And still be 502.7 lbs curb weight?  Absolutely!

But in reality, that would probably mean a bike that weighed another 40 lbs or so. And was another $1k-$2k.

Kawasaki has issues. Reports I've read have varied between 31 and 35ish mpg for the latest Z1000.

Rider just got about 33-35 out of the C14 also.

MPG is going down.... down.... down....  Thumbsdown

Heck, I can get my GS down to 19 mpg on the track.  Doesn't mean it will only get 19.  I average 37, two up, loaded with luggage.  43 solo, no luggage, and a personal best of 58 (!!!) with a nice tailwind.   Lol

Don't bitch about mpg when you are hammering through the twisties in 2nd gear on a motorcycle that makes 120hp.

30+ mpg when driving "flat out" (ever see that track day video?  I'll link to it..) can't be beat.
