Sure I recognize Mr. Messier although we were long gone from Edmonton before his arrival. We were starving students in the early years and traded weekend babysitting in Spruce Grove for perks like free Oilers tickets, a stocked food and beer fridge, an indoor swimming pool and hottub! Man, those were the days!

That picture was snapped at the world famous Wan Q restaurant in Edmonton around 1978 I believe. I went to High School with the Moose, and my Mother worked with a couple of his family members at our local Safeway store.
I was very fortunate to get invited into his induction into the hall of fame in 2007. (I had not seen him since he played in Vancouver). Still a big kid. (A very rich big kid

The Leafs are 3-0 to start the season.
I wish ATW were here to comment.
Loved the team response on STN to Eberle's goal .

If you do a direct comparison from last year to this year there is no doubt the Leafs are, by far, the most improved team in the NHL. Now in a month or two that may not be the case but until that time LEAFS RULE others drool!!!!!

Say what you want about the leafs but one thing is certain. They have the best fans of any team in the league, bar none. I for one am happy to be in that catagory. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. lol
I have to say it would be nice to see a major improvement this year, or next, or next. See what I mean about good fans.

Used to be a die hard Leaf fan. But the Ballard era did me in and I slowly ... read "like molasses in February" ... matriculated to the Canucks. I tell ya ... there has been little to celebrate there as well.
Oh the pain ... the pain.
Watching the Canucks against Anaheim the other night was like a microcosm of the season to come. They have lots of puck control but cannot finish and every 10 or so minutes the defense does something stupid. It is amazingly frustrating and I am growing very weary of the "cycling the puck" offense. I long for the days of Yvan Cournoyer and his ilk ... breaking loose at centre ice at speed. Cycling the puck is not playmaking it is probing and bores me to tears...
My wife can no longer watch and shakes her head that I bother. To think I have been cheering losing teams since I was 11 years old is not good for one's self esteem.

Actually the whole problem is that you guys are too good of fans. If you had stayed away, they might of actually spent some money on players in the past.
(Sorry, I couldn't resist this one though)

I have it on good authority that this is a true and acurate picture of Baz. It was confirmed by both the RCMP and the FBI. They have information that he is very pissed that the Liberace museum has closed. Sorry Baz it had to be exposed sooner or later. Finally you can now come out of the closet and be a real Leaf fan.

Can I hide in here to share my shame about the Sharks?
Maybe we'll pull a defense out of our asses soon. I remain optimistic!

Oh trust me, Baz couldn't fit into those leaf pants if he tried.
I have been to several Leaf games in Toronto though, and always cheered for the other team, just because......
The leafs always remind me of the Titanic.
They look good until they hit the ice.

We have this defensman that has a whicked slap shot, gets injured at the drop of a hat and we will even pay half his hugely inflated salary. His name is Sheldon. Can you speak with someone?

I was going to come in here and gloat about the Sharks-Oilers game, but then quickly realized there are probably Flames fans in here, too.
(the Flames are actually my favorite non-Sharks team; I was happy that my non-Shark boyfriend Jarome Iglina, he of the BEST name ever, got one of their 2938479283479823 goals)

Didn't your Sharks ( actually Heatley/Thornton/Marleau) just defeat The Devils!
Feel free to gloat about that one. Likely not much sympathy up here in the hinterland for Lou and Co.'s woes.
