Got in a nice ride on Jan. 31.  Sweet.

A thought:  I don't check the air in my tires before these winter rides.  Yes, I know I should.  Is there any advantage to riding with lower pressures in the tires during cold weather?

I check mine at the start of every riding day.  I usually run mine a little lower pressure in the winter so the tires heat up a bit more and a bit quicker.  My stock pressure should be 42/42, but I'll run 38/40 in the winter.

Exactly this.

I'm super careful about tire pressures in the winter, especially if it's been a while.  Checked mine before a ride yesterday and my front was 50 psi.  Crazy

Weird... what's the norm you inflate them to?  Does cold weather 'shrink' the tire, thus raising pressure?? Bueller?

Just over 60 miles of back roads today. I think this may be the first time ever in the month February for me.

Ok, it's confirmed.  You can ride year round in Chicago.  First ride in February today.

What makes you think they would ride them anyways. To cold to wear a dew rag and a leather vest And the chrome would get dirty to.

Once the road salt goes down the bikes don't come out around these parts.  Fortunately I ride a Strom and a DR and don't care.   Bigsmile

Took the DR on a 57 mile wander around the county. I couldn't take sitting around the house on a day like today. Bigsmile

It was beautiful for a ride today! I can't believe this weather we're having in February... I'm glad Sleazy called todays lunch ride! I only got in about 40 miles, but it was still a ride!

I finally had a chance to get the bike out today. Went for a late-afternoon blast around the area. Only 50 miles, but it was FANTASTIC.  The roads were empty and the bike loves the cold. Thumbsup

Then I came home to a basement full of sewage. Second time in 6 months. Not cool.  Thumbsdown

Two consecutive days riding to work.  Not much of accomplishment considering the weather and brevity of my commute, but I need to make good on my resolution to spend less time in the car this year.
