I moved to Phoenix nearly three years ago after living in Houston since 1982. From 1971 to 1982 I lived in Great Lakes, Long Beach, Perl Harbor, and San Diego while serving in the Navy. And before that I lived in rural Texas about 100 miles North of Houston.

I think someone has been out in the Sum a bit too much... there is no Sun on the Arizona State Flag:

From the Arizona Guide Web Site:
State Flag: Adopted in 1917, the lower half of the flag is a blue field. The upper half is divided into thirteen equal segments, six light yellow and seven red. In the center of the flag is a copper-colored five-point star. The red and the blue are the same shades as the flag of the United States of America, and it measures four feet high and six feet wide.

My fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Taylor, will be so proud of me:  the yellow and red segments represent an Arizona sunset while the copper-colored star represents both the mineral industry and the sun.

Hey, not bad for learning that in 1968 at Luke Air Force Base Elementary School.   Lol

Oh, and every car or truck I've ever owned in Orygun sported both an ASU sticker and a State of Arizona flag decal.   Cool

Wow - this thread was resurrected from 2006??

AZ is "home" - kinda stuck in CA right now.
but just bought a condo in Phx so as to have a "footprint" in AZ once again.

Born and raised in Beaumont, TX. Now residing in Amarillo, TX. Lived a lot of places in between; Denver, Miami, Germany, Turkey, Phoenix, Austin (twice), Dallas (twice).

Unfortunately the roads are just as flat and straight here as they are in Beaumont. Would love to move to NM or Colorado, but they have that damn state income tax.
