It doesn't really matter how I ride on the VFR. I get 40mpg. Riding hard in the twisties? 40. Slabbing across the state? 40. High speed sweepers? 40.  The one time I was lower than that was heading across Nebraska into a stiff quartering headwind with saddlebags and a large tail bag. That time I got 36ish.

I'm usually in the high 30s because my commute is 0-60-0 over and over again. It's basically the worst possible scenario for fuel mileage. I would actually be a good candidate for a hybrid if I wanted to drive a car.

The highest I've seen was in the mid 50s on a long highway slog.

They've all been larger displacement motors, but twins, triples, and fours - all about the same.

Now is that an imperial gallon (real one) or the Gallon US.  Real gallons have 160 ounces and the US gallon has 132 ounces.  Big difference in mileage if you compare both gallons.

No, I don't really do that.  I do zip up to speed in the "relevant" gear, but when I settle in I click up to 6.  I do *downshift* pretty regularly (like whenever I roll off the gas) - I don't like asking the engine to pull from 3K even slowly - but I pop right back up to 6th.  I used to think it was the alcohol/MTBE here in CA, but nowadays everybody has that, and it's only 10% in any case.

I dunno about that. If I where to ride my 500 at the speed limit based on the speedo and shift at 4k I think I'd hafta take gas out of the tank every night. I'll bet it would get in the high 50's.

oklahoma. we've checked it many times under various conditions and it's been 60+ every time. speedometer reads about 4 mph fast.

Man...I can tell I'm the slow old fart on a 650!   I've almost never gotten below 50mpg on my Wee-Strom. (I think I got 48mpg once after a crazy-spirited ride...).

Once I got 60mpg on it...but that was definitely riding like a 90-year-old (kept the revs at 4K or below 100% of the time, LOL...was just curious how much of a difference it made...and it made a BIG difference!).

According to my Fuelly charts, the WeeStrom averages just over 50 with a high of 60 and low of 37.

So far on the Concours I'm averaging 40 with a high of 51 and low of 35.  Although I expect this to drop with the cold weather.  It's seems to affect the Concours mpg much more than the WeeStrom.

On my Suzuki GS500F I generally averaged 50+ with 60 or so on the highway.

I just got a Honda NT700V.  Wit still less than 600 miles on the bike it is getting an aggregate 52.8 mpg according to the on board computer.  The last tank averaged 48.5 MOL for only commuting and local short trips.  I haven't actually check a trip mileage yet but it seems to be 55 or so.

The BMW has averaged mid to high 40s over about 100K miles.

The TW will go as low as 55mpg if I'm really, really twisting on it, but 70ish is more common.  I know it's capable of much higher numbers, but the smaller rear sprocket and my inability to not go everywhere on it WFO mitigate against that.

I did pretty damn good on this trip to Arizona recently and the computer on the bike showed 58 mpg average for the return trip.    I ride much more conservatively when I am alone.

40-43 from Seattle to Emerald Island NC.  Average speed 77mph over the 3500+ miles on a C14.  I have done this trip 3 times.  I only recorded data for the first trip.  90% on Interstate and I'd say 99% at 10+ MPH over the posted speed limits.

Of the three bikes I have on the road now my GS850 easily gets in the high 40s....my VFR gets around 40-45 mpg and my ST1300 at speeds of around 70-75 gets close to the mid 40s can't complain about that at all....

Average on the EV has been right around 44mpg, pushing 50mpg on longer trips. I have to say mpg is part of why I picked my ride. Fuel efficiency is not a total deal killer, but I really can't see riding a bike that gets worse mileage than a small car. So, two-liter cruisers and tourers are excess for its own sake., IMO. Even the thirstier liter class bikes usually get more mpg than the Hyundai, unless you get on them pretty hard.
