Let me start by saying, no pics.  The weather looked a bit threatening and I didn't even take a camera.

With that said, what an awesome ride.  We left OKC yesterday morning between the waves of rain and headed east on Hwy 9 to Seminole and then 270 to McAlester and Hartshorne where we picked up Hwy1 over to Mena, Ark.

The weather turned out to be perfect, with just a few sprinkles along the way.  The scenery was nice, though if you want to see the fall foliage at it's height, you might want to wait another week.  I think Talihina is having a Foliage Festival next weekend (30-31 Oct).

I had been on the Talimena drive years ago as a kid in a car so I didn't remember what it was really like.  It's about 50 miles of curves and hills.  There were a ton of bikes on the road as well as the occasional tour bus, but overall, ,most folks who were going slower were considerate enough to pull over at one of the "vistas" to let us pass.

Got home last night about 7 after almost 450 miles and I'm ready to go again.

Only an Okie would post a touring blog with no pictures Smile

That area around Eufala and all of south-east Oklahoma is great. Glad you had a good ride.

It's not the fall that hurts, it's when you hit the ground.
