I wanted to try out Google Maps and ended up creating a series of maps of a one-day ride from Tröpolach, Austria, at the base of the Nassfeld Pass, to Vallarsa, Italy, a valley southeast out of Rovereto, Italy. Street view works on some of the roads...Monte Zoncolan for example.

Hi, G.R.

I don't think this is too far off your patch: what can you tell me about a Lago di Braies? Do you know it? Worth a visit?

I stumbled across it when I was doing a Google satellite crawl and have been wondering about it ever since. Seems to have a nice hotel on it.

Cheers,

Jerry

Are you possibly referring to Lagi di Barcis?

If so, this is it...

If you are heading there, do ride the section from Ampezzo to Navarons to Lago di Barcis. It will be a serious workout.

Edited to add: Lago di Braies aka Pragser Wildsee. I was there about ten years ago. It is on a dead end road off the SS 49. Worth seeing and a great place to relax.
