I've come to realize if the STN membership was given a team of designers and engineers with carte blanche to create the ultimate motorcycle, it would suck.
Furthermore, none of you would buy it.
Three or four years from now I'll pick up a used one, I swear.

Thank you!
OK take this bike, take off it's carbon fiber skin and give it something more down to earth.
Adjust the seating position maybe remap the injectors for more torque. Maybe a slightly larger fuel tank and well.......
It's the right engine? It's the right amount of technology and it would look good as well.
Heck for those of us who love odd things take out the timing chain and slap in some gears in there.
This bike could have been and should have been the new VFR.
And with Honda you know it would have come in cheaper and with more available parts.
A bike you could ride to work every day and still make you scream "WOOOO HOOOOO" in your lid come saturday and sunday.
i.e. the perfect woman
I agree with you shah. Instead of being a "10", knock it down to an "8.5" and would still have a kick ass sport (and st) bike.

You nearly described the anticipated new V4 Tuono.

Right engine......right brain....right gear box and how what...a little cheaper than the VFR?
It's amazing? Some times you just have to kick the engineers out of the room and say NO! Technology is a a means to and end not an end to it self!
It's nothing at all like what any VFR is or should be. Go sit on one and have someone snap a picture. Your hands are below your hips, and if you try to lay on the tank and are above about 5'10" or 5'11", your helmet will hit the windscreen.
That said, it's certainly one-upped the RVF.

I've been away a bit -- you got it back on the road? Is that its new paint job?

That tail section is wholly and utterly impossible if you want a robust bag setup.
It's basic mechanics. Leverage and such. Passengers and/or robust luggage require larger, fatter, heavier tail frames.
the 400lb, comfortable, 2-up luggageable bike doesn't exist.

Nah. BMW made the "next Gen" VFR back in 2005 with the release of the K1200S. Hate all you want, BMW got it right and Honda biffed it.
Ain't that the truth!

Put a 1000cc V4 in the Ninja 1000 and you have what Honda should have built. Years ago. OK, add a fully adjustable rear shock too.

"There’s no word on pricing for any of that, but expect a hefty addition to the Factory’s $20,999 base price."
If my VFR approached this price, it, too, would only be on the showroom floor.
Nice bike, interesting technology, far more than I need or want.
I'll keep my 100 HP VFR thank you. Its does all I need, and is more than I can handle at times.
