With apologies to Master Dickens-

I spent last week with my California relatives, revisiting memories from the past and showing them what I could of the beauty of this water'd state,

and the glories of autumnal Wisconsin.

Today I was done with work at 3pm, and since it was 70 degrees and forecast to go nowhere but down for the rest of the week, I decided to take the Buell for a spin.

Torquemada and I had a lovely ride, and I found myself thinking dangerous thoughts like, "This bike is actually pretty comfortable" and "Boy, the S1 really is running great!"  After a couple of hours I headed toward Motor, the restaurant in the Harley-Davidson Museum complex downtown, intending to have dinner.  It was closed for a private event, so I traveled south across the 6th Street Viaduct

to the Iron Horse Hotel.

After a tasty perch po' boy, I went out to the parking lot and started the Buell.....er, NOT. Not a stir from the starter. Full lights, but nothin'. Checked every thing I could think of, but could find nothing wrong with the connections. The folks at the Iron Horse were wonderfully helpful, but short of their offering a free night at the hotel, I was going to need some way to get the bike home where I could investigate further.

Might I mention that I recently sold my Kendon 2-place trailer? I intend to replace it, possibly with a Stinger single-bike trailer, but right now I am trailer-less. Despite the fact that I rarely carry my 'drug-dealer-pay-as-u-go' cell phone, I DO bring it when I ride the Buell, for reasons easily intuited. Cool  Okay, 'Who ya gonna call...'  not Ghostbusters, but Big Ben who I figured had the secret # to contact the EXTREME existential emergency bike-rescue team...

Matt and Shannon were EXTREMEly gracious in rescuing me, interrupting their ride through the pleasures of Greenfield Park to haul an olde fartessa and her broke-back hoss home.

I knew when I bought the Buell that it would break my heart. Nonetheless, I still love it-- guess I'm a lover not a fighter.  Lol
Sincere and heartfelt thanks to Matt and Shannon for their welcome assistance.  Hail

It's no problem. I'm glad you were able to get a hold of me. Thanks for dinner. We went to Red Robin and really splurged with our lemonaid and limeaid drink orders. We normally just get water because we're both extremely cheap.  Lol

My diagnosis is that your Buell is reacting to the coming Wisconsin winter. Maybe you should keep it out West for the next six months?

Sorry to hear about the bike issues, but good to hear about the rescue! It's always good to maintain tight relationships, and help each other out. Too bad it doesn't seem to rub off on most of the country...

Btw, nice S1!
