I don't know much about this bike, I just did some quick research. It appears to be generally liked, and one source puts it's key figures at 125hp 70lbs torque and ~479lbs ready to ride. These are all right in the ball park for the Speed Triple and Z1000. So I guess it's in the running, but I hate those wheels.
I think it looks boring compared to both the Kawi and the Triumph.

Get your asses out there and buy it.
People have been whining for years that Honda has never had a real entrant into this market space.
Now they do.
Time to shut up and put up.

Not true, they had one in that market for years with the 919 - that was available up till 2007 I believe. It was only the last 3 years that Honda has been out of this market. This new model has been out in Europe since 2008.
If Honda had brought this to the US then, I may have bought it instead of my Street Triple R. I do not see the sense in buying this bike to replace my triple. But I hope others buy it.

Well, yeah... I wasn't speaking to you in particular.
I'm mainly talking to all the "If they would just ... then i would buy..." guys and the "I'll get one used in 3-4 years" guys.
The 919 was a decent bike - underrated, even - but I suspect this one is a bit more on the edge.

Cool. '11 Naked bike buyers now have a revised Speed Triple, 2 yr old Z1000 and revised Monster to choose from.

I had a chance to see several CB1000Rs in person during a trip to Europe in 2008. A great looking bike.

Not to mention the new Tuono V4, Dorsoduro 1200, BMW F800R, and Yamaha FZ8. It's going to be a great year to go naked.
I realize Bubbles' comment wasn't directed to me, but I have been wanting Honda to bring this bike over since it came out.

Rear rack and topbox from Givi or Sw-Motech, from what I can tell.

The ONLY reason i'd consider this bike is because I just happened to pick up a 919 for cheap and discovered it's actually quite a nice bike. So, by default, I would give consideration to the new CB1000R based on that alone.
Otherwise I think it looks boring and did I mention I HATE the WHEELS!

Speaking of names, I think the CB1000R should be named Moltar.
