From the pics I see it looks like the riding is pretty sweet.I do have a couple of questions:what would insurance cost for a BMW K1200S and would it be better to bring it or buy one there?

swordfish - I suggest that you email some insurance companies and get a quote. Prices vary considerably, depending on your age and whether the bike is in a locked garage at night etc.

Here are some links

Here is a link to BMW Australia - Email them and they should be able to inform you about compliance requirements and import issues.

Good luck with it all.

Mate the cost of shipping  the bike from Canada to Australia would not be worth it.  Better off to sell it there and buy another one in Australia.

Australia is a great place but there is not much to see compaired to Canada. Sure we have some great things to do and see, Sydney is one of the best cities in the world.  HOWEVER I would love to see Canada and the Rockies.  Don't know if I would like your winters though.  Lol

If you moved to my state you would not have to worry about much rain, lucky to get rain once a month. Its actually seriously a big problem - the lack of rain here and in most parts of Australia - but up side is rare to have a weekend that you cannot ride. Of course you can also ride all year round as winter is very mild. almost no winter in northern areas.
