While posting my Wee on Craigslist I see a local is selling this '97 Bimota SB6R.
Don't know the guy, and I've never seen the bike ridden around town - which would be consistent with his statement that it's been a showroom queen.

You should definitely get that.
A like new 150hp Bimota superbike for the price of a new 600cc Ninja bike?

I know critiquing a Bimota is kinda like critiquing the Sistine Chapel however, I kinda preferred the original Bimotas when they had trellis frames

This is ST.N, we criticize everything.
I, for one, find this Bimota to be a stylistic disaster. I'd like to ride it, however.

That's neat. I could never own that though; i'd feel bad getting it dirty.
I actually prefer the older Bimota's with the 1000cc Yamaha engines.

I'm here...been around a while...
Have the SB6R, and a DB4. The DB4 gets ridden quite a bit, the SB6r, not so much. It really was built as Bimota's sport-touring bike, but it is a wheelie machine. 1/2 Throttle corner exits net you a front wheel waving at the moon..or whatever.
I am 6'2" and 200+ and this is a fairly large and wide bike. I did do one 400+ mile backroad day on it in October and it was reasonably comfy; (though, I always thought the DB4 was snug/comfy, so what do I know?).
Bike uses a breathed on GSXR1100 motor, is much more refined both finish and riding wise than earlier Bimotas, even the much maligned SB6 which it replaced.
With the exception of the SB8r,, it is about the roomiest bike Bimota ever built, before or since....ergo the sport-touring, I guess.
Fully adjustable Ohlins rear and Paioli front suspension can handle just about anything you throw at it, from trackdays to long hauls (though I wouldn't want to slab it very long on it....definitely leans to SPORT side of sport-touring).
Suzuki motor is the usual reliable, low maintenance gobs of HP lump.
Service is easy, perhaps easier than a standard jap bike, as a couple of screws removed nets you pretty much total access; The bodywork comes off in a couple of pieces, the whole rear subframe /cf body lifts off in one piece...everything is right there.
Brake, suspension, motor and consumables are all standard and available.
New OEM stuff (bodywork, controls, ect.)still available through BimotaSpirit in NC.
Serious folks would be welcome to ride before purchase.

The DB4 is a sort of hybrid...oval section welded trellis; I am hoping I won't have to sell this one.
'Spose you think this one is ugly, too?
