The ergos and the power of my '08 K1200GT have been the major pluses of this bike to me. The weight and a FI problem have been the major minuses. The FI problem was that between about 3300 and 4800 RPM the motor had erratic behavior: Running rough, a noticeable delay from opening the throttle to response, and large drop in RPMs when closing the throttle. Between the weight and the FI problem I was thinking more and more of selling the bike.
I mentioned the erratic motor issue when I brought the bike in for service recently. The shop guy said there was a SW update that should help. OK.
After about 200 miles I am certain he was right -- it did help a lot! One thing I hadn't realized was how the weight and the FI problem interacted. No wonder the weight bothered me; when moving at low speed part of me was worried about the motor hesitating resulting in me wrestling this big dead weight.
Now I am almost certain I will keep the bike for several more years. The hippo will keep dancing.
