« on: December 02, 2010, 03:36:25 PM »

Well, it was a sad day in motorcycling this past Monday.  The “little red wagon”, my Buell X1, was sold.  We’ve been though a lot together.  I bought it in July 2005 from the original owner in Baltimore.  It had 16k miles.  We went all over the Northeast together; Buffalo/Adirondacks/NY State, Portland (Maine), Toronto, Cleveland, Raleigh, the Outer Banks and everywhere in between.  I sold it with 40k miles to its new owner who happens to live in Baltimore. I saw he was interested in my model on the Badweb so I sent him an e-mail last week.  Less than 5 days later, she’s sold.  Full cycle I guess.

Now for the good stuff…I’m going to be changing diapers again!  My wife is pregnant with our second and she is due in May, 2011.  I’ll probably not be able to do any trips next year while I help her out but I’m planning to do more track days.  The Buell was a lot of fun on the track but I don’t want to beat it up or bang it up.   If I do get a track bike, most likely that is what it would be, I won’t register it for the road.  As for now, I’m keeping the vfr for the day trips.

It’s been great being a Buell owner and yes, I would definitely consider another Buell in the future.  Buell was (or still is) one of those companies that made you proud to be an owner which I really liked.  We were part of a “family”.  I was very fortunate to have a great dealership near me who cared that I owned Buells (the X1 and XBX).    I’m really excited to see where Erik Buell Racing is headed and will be watching closely.

My direction in motorcycling may have changed but I’ll still keep reading the Badweb and the posts here. Thank you all that helped me and hopefully I helped a few.  Ok, enough of the mushy stuff, carry on…

Congrats on the addition to the family. My hat's off to you for having your priorities straight. Your kids come first! You'll have time for toys when they get older. Thumbsup

Thanks all for the kind words!  We're really excited for the addition to our family and yes, a few changes are needed.  My wife is an angel.  I don't know how she deals with our son but with another on the way, she'll need a little help!

Curtain climbers!  Haha!

A lot of people tell us that.  Enjoy them now because soon they will leave you for their own lives.

Buell...I like it!  Or if it is a girl, Buellina.

Hey Congrats, Matt.  Are you the guy who had the orange Uly at the Clearfield meet this year?  If you were it was a pleasure meeting you and riding with you.  As a fellow Bueller, I feel your pain.  I missed the hell out of my City-X after I sold it and then I bought the Blue 09 Uly. It's been all good since.  Good luck with the baby and I wish you the best.

Yep! That was me!  It was a pleasure riding and bs-ing with you there.  I sold both the Uly and X1 this year.  Ken, you may have been the first person I told! Wife was a different story!

Thanks everyone again for the wishes!

Similar to naming your kid after your sports hero.  Yeah, a few years ago "Tiger Woods" wasn't that bad of a name.  Haha.  Double
