Wow is this thing just about the ugliest most unwieldy thing I've seen in a while. Hurl
It sounds like they want to produce something pretty close to this.  Also from the article it looks like it is going under the Star Motorcycle banner,  must mean they're gonna market it heavy to the cruiser crowd.

Are those air scoops (horn on the old model?) infected. Looks like it has more junk in the trunk too.
I concur Hurl

Well, the current V-Max is being marketed to the cruiser crowd under the Star banner...

I doubt the Max was all that well received in 1985 either.  For way back then, it was a machine built way before its time.  As a Max lover, I'm happy to see an update, even if it isnt all that appealing to the eye.  And if rumors turn into reality, I will be doing my best to own one of those ugly suckers...1800cc and 200 hp.  Ugly or not, like the forst model, such a cycle will demand a little respect.

As long as they build the motor right, who cares about the rest?  Bigsmile

V-Max's have never been about being pretty or good handling, that's up to the customers to fix (or not).

First thing I'd do if I had one would be to hack off that hideous ass.  Then put some decent meaty forks on it.  It'd be pretty sweet at that point.   Thumbsup

I saw the new Max at the NY Cycle Show.  On so many levels it's absolutely vulgar.  But therein lies its beauty.  It's so damn "in your face," that you just have to say "F*ck Yeah!"  This is coming from a guy that normally puts function way over form.  The thing has these huge air horns, which are only dwarfed by the gigantic quad mufflers shooting out and back of the machine.  It's absolutely cartoonish--but cartoonish like a Quentin Tarrentino film.  You can't help enjoying it, even though there's a part of you which says you really ought not.  Of course, all of this is moot if the performance isn't just as audacious as the appearance.  But considering that the original was the straight-line king for a long while (and still hangs in there with all but the quickest today), my guess is that the legend might just continue for another 15 years.  Come on, motorcycles are supposed to be fun, aren't they?

My 2 cents.
