No word on their suggestions for proceeding through the justice system upon completion of his investigation. Crazy

I have to wonder if his vocation as a lawyer who defends druggies arrested by the police had any bearing on their lack of innarest in helping him.

Heck, don't feel bad. Our cops have the same attitude about murders here.

Quote
Still Clark emphasizes the pragmatics of the case: if witnesses don't tell officers what they know, the investigation could go cold.

"To me, our unit should be looking at this and going, ‘okay, they don't want to cooperate, let's shut this one down and move onto the ones where the people want to cooperate.'"

Anyone with information can contact police at 780-423-4567. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling 1-800-222-8477, or by clicking here.

Well, he does have a point, if they can't get a lead from a witness it is pretty hard to investigate. Clark wasn't asking anybody to do the legwork, just tell the police what (who) you saw.

I do agree somewhat but the Somali community leaders are a little miffed that he painted them all the way he did.

Well, they need to get un-miffed and tell their people to start cooperating with the police.

Not condoning the problem at all here but.....

I have travelled to many 3rd world hell holes, where the word Police is mostly associated with shakedowns. I have actually been robbed by the police once in a little Latin American drinkwater, and several of my coworkers have also. I can introduce you to a Nicaraguan fellow who spent 5 years in jail just for browsing the wrong website one day.

So while it is easy for us to use that old "You're in Canada now" Cliche, it makes it very hard for a lot of these people to trust police, when they come from a place where the police are more corrupt than most of the criminals. Even in the more modern cities in Latin America, people will go out of their way to avoid eye contact with a cop.

I've lived and travelled around the world and am well aware of police corruption in other countries.  I've also seen, firsthand, how our immigration system seems to instil a sense of entitlement in immigrants before they ever set foot here.

...and if they're so intimidated by Canadian police how is it that they have "community leaders" so unafraid to demand police do something, while their community still refuses to cooperate?

Why is there so much crime in the Somali "community" in the first place?  I thought they were all supposed to be honest hardworking people just grateful to have a chance to improve their lives here...oh wait a minute...nevermind...
