My wife has a conference in Phoenix in February, and I'm contemplating going with her.  Being from Michigan, we are in the grip of winter right now- what's it like in Phoenix?  If I go I'll have a Friday to play all to myself, Friday night and Saturday with my wife, fly home Sunday.  I'm hoping I can maybe find a bike to rent and do a little riding, if this all comes together.

How about bike rentals?  Is there anything in the area?  TIA!   Thumbsup

We just moved away from Phoenix after being there 25 years. Feb weather is great as it's already starting to hit the 70s. See

http://www.wunderground.com/NORMS/DisplayNORMS.asp?AirportCode=KPHX&StateCode=AZ&SafeCityName=Phoenix_Sky_Harbor_International&Units=none&IATA=PHX&normals=on

The dry desert air is easy to heat and can't hold heat so note that there's a big difference between morning lows and afternoon highs. Dress in layers so you can peel them off as the temps go up.

If you want to rent an HD (heaven forbid), there's ton of places. If you want somthing else, try

Friends don't let friends ride cruisers.........

Ride if you have a chance. The weather is nice there in Feb, the birds will be singing and flowers just starting to bud. You will hate yourself forever if you do not.
If the weather is nice in the hills head east to Miami/Globe then 188 over to the highway to Payson and back would make a nice day ride. Like Danger Money said wear some layers.
Phoenix itself can be a life threatening situation on a motorcycle.

An opportunity missed is an opportunity lost.

Oh, a HD would be the *last* resort.  That said, I'd rather ride an HD than nothing.  I sent an email out to azride with some questions.  This whole thing is up in the air yet, but I thought I'd check just in case!

This place is great.  I wanted to rent a RT1200, the wife wanted a Goldwing.  We rented a Goldwing.  They have a lot of BMW's.  Gave me some good advice on routes and just very nice people to work with.  We went in October and it was 90* in Phoenix and 48* when we rode thru Show Low.  They can give you some ideas on routes that will be comfortable for the time frame.

Head out to show low, and head down the Salt River canyon to Globe, then back to PHX - would be a decent day ride.

Hey Clay, if you do decide to rent & go for a ride, let us know when you'll be in town. A couple of us will most likely join ya if you would like the company.
