does anyone know of a helmet that has an internal drop down tinted visor like the one the Caberg Justissimo has?  I like that option, but an not sure I need a flip up helmet.

The Caberg Solo is a Caberg Justissimo without the flip-up.  Other than that, your only alternative is the Schuberth S1.  If you happen to wear a Large in most helmets (Schuberth runs about one size small, making their XL an L for most folks - the same is true for Caberg helmets, BTW), check out this S1 auction on eBay.  It's a killer price if you can get past the gaphics.

I tried a Solo but wasn't very happy with the ventilation or overall feel compared to my S1 (which is getting old enough to be replaced).

DISCLAIMER: I have no connection with the cited auction.

I have a Caberg Justissimo, and well I love it! Its amazing!
Simply stunnind design, uber comfy, nice and quiet, fog free and the flip down shade is so nice in the mornings when I'm riding into the sun!
And the fact that i can flip up the lid to drink or to talk just makes things that much nicer.
Once you go flip up you never go back.

If you do choose to go for a flip front...and I can`t see why you wouldn`t..an alternative to the Justissimo, still with an internal tinted visor, is the Lazer Revolution.
Originally designed for Snowmobile and JetSki use,the clear visor is double glazed and never mists up.

The Revolution tinted visor lifts up with the front section when the helmet is open, so can`t be used, unlike the Justissimo where it slides out of the main helmet shell...not a problem here where it can`t legally be worn open while riding anyway.

Hey FWIW: I tried on the Schuberth S1 and was very impressed.  I still prefer my Shoei X-11 (and if u can get one for $300 I would jump on it) due to the awesome venting!  I did think the S1 was very comfy and put together nicely.  I didn't road test though.

scorpionusa.com shows a good looking (and cheap) helmet used for snowmobiles.  It has a sliding tinted visor that comes down in front.

Also you can get the visor separately if you already have a Scorpion helmet (as I do, my backup)

Er, given the present state of distribution for Schuberth in the US (read "none") and the difficulty of finding people who stock Caberg helmets (good luck trying to get the distributor to tell you!!! Thumbsdown), that may be your only choice.  Sad

I picked up a Roof R10 from designer helmets.  Good service and it only took about 10 days to get the helmet from the UK.  The only down side is the exchange rate.

They do have Caberg and Schuberth.  My new personal favorite is the Roof Boxer V

And the boxer V has VENTS!!!! That's the main thing that kept me from getting the original one when I got my Diversion (my son is wearing it in my avatar)

If you're into jet fighter style they also have enough for you to daydream your heart out.  And the BMW Carbon is only 895 pounds!

Be careful if you`re considering a Roof Boxer.

I`ve got an original 1999 one and a Mark 3 2001 one.

Both mist up like buggery and let water down the inside of the visor, which pools in the chin section.

They`re incredibly hot (okay, this latest version has vents) and the liner isn`t removeable for easy washing (I read the French article which says the new one is removeable).

Both of mine fit me okay, but I have an oval head shape.....a lot of people find Roof Boxers simply do not fit their head.
Regarding size, both of mine are one size up from my usual helmet size.

I find them pretty good noise wise....but maybe the new vents will create noise.

The Roof Iridium visor is fantastic in bright sunshine, being polarised.

Over here, the latest Boxer is tested as an Integral Helmet and cannot be legally worn in the open position while riding, unlike the earlier models which were tested as an Open Face with additional chin guard.

FedEx delivers my Caberg Justimo today from Helmet Harbor, so I can post a ride report soon.  My HJC CLMax is a good helmet, comfy and quiet, but the fogging is a real PITA.  The Caberg is supposed to solve that with a dual visor, so we'll see.
This 30 degree weather with fog has been a real problem, so this will be a real test of the helmet.

Thanks for the info.  Since they don't get imported here it's a bit of a crap shoot getting the right size and either loving or hating the helmets.  I guess the EU test and classification for the helmet is moot here since they aren't either DOT or SNELL certified they are technically illegal to wear.  But I do trust the EU testing.

With the Integral helmet classification does that mean they didn't do any testing with the chinbar rotated aft or does that mean it failed testing with the chinbar rotated?

Thanks again!

The lastest from Schuberth in Germany is that they plan to announce their new US distributor at a show in Indianapolis in February.  See this note, from the Concours Owners Group site:

"Here's what I heard back from Schuberth when I inquired about a local dealer. Note, they did include a contact for parts if needed. It sounds as if they are re entering the US market in February:

Dear Brian,

thank you very much for your request.

Unfortunately we do not have a distributor in the US at the moment.

We are currently working hard on bringing our products to the US market again.
Latest during the Indianapolis Dealer Expo in February 2007 we will announce our new sales network to the public.

In the meantime we ask for your understanding, that we can not sell any helmets or accessories to the US.

In case of urgently needed spare parts for warranty claims please contact our service center via e-mail service@schuberth.de

If you have got any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

It didn`t fail in the open position,it appears that the testing procedure is applied to the helmet in the intended riding position......and the closed position was deemed to be the intended riding position.
You know Systems and Standards people....they cannot possibly consider either of two options being valid......just like Highlander, there can only be one.

I`m glad my comments were appreciated,as the sizing is most odd compared to all the other helmets I`ve owned...it`s not just the temple area that is different, but also the chin area.....there`s not a great deal of chinspace, and the visor can actually touch your nose in the fully down position as it goes inside the chinpiece.

You really must try a Roof for size, rather than ordering one based on what you already wear.

I've got a Diversion now that I love.  Does the Boxer fit in a similar fashion or is it a completely different shape and size?

I`ve tried a Roof Diversion and it had more chin space than a Boxer and felt much closer in the temple and cheek area.

It would be an expensive gamble, but if you found the Diversion too tight, then a Boxer may.....just may...be okay for you.

I did read over here that the Diversion was praised for being qiuet, probably due to its snug fit.
