good luck, man -- my driveway looks like 300 feet of bad ice -- I have a feeling I'd make it to the end, and slid right underneath a passing UPS truck ;-}

Driveway is clear and bike is pointed out at work tomorrow. Gear is laid out, boots are cleaned up and I'm FREAKIN' READY! Yup, it's riding season.

My driveway was so ice, that I decided to ride across the yard to miss the ice down hill that I have. Got stuck at the edge of the road. Heavy throttle and some pushing and I was on my way. Good ride, did run through some salty slush. Dammit. Owell a couple days from now I will be out riding again.

I'll never take my bike out again after the streets have been salted and not till after the second good rain. I did that with my first 3 bikes and all of them ended up with corroded electrical contacts after a time. It didn't happen that winter or even in winter. It just depends on how much moisture and salt dust gets deposited on the contacts.

That's why you wash it after the ride.
Also today's bikes have connectors which have O rings and the wires leading into the connector are also sealed which makes it imposable to get moisture in them unless it is defective.
The bikes in the 70's, 80"s, and early 90's were not sealed and water can corrode the terminals.
That has not made me stop from getting a ride in when i can and with the temp's getting into the upper 40's by the end of the week i plan on getting a ride in. Even if it is just for coffee.

I'll have to check on that. The last bike was a 91Ninja ZX6. Washing the bike will not get the salt dust out of the inside of the fairing though. The contacts that were corroded were protected from rain, but somehow still had enough moisture to start the corrosion process. I'm going to have to look at some of my connections to see how well sealed they are. Though, I have doubts that any type of seals can keep out the salt dust indefinitely. That stuff just gets everywhere on the inside. Thanks.

Please excuse my FJR ignorance but what might this be?
And.... does the Sargeant seat make all the difference?

I sold my Ford Expedition yesterday. Both of our other cars are being used today. I will be back out on the bike to go get plates and insurance for the summer car. The family said that I am easier to get along with after a ride. Hum who would have thunk ed.

That is what holds the bottom of the side cases.
And yes the Sargent seat made a big difference. The stock seat lasted me only a year. After 4/5 hours my butt would be hurting me. With the Sargent i can honestly say in the last 5 years my butt only botherd me a handfull of times. Well worth the investment.

That's what I thought. The stock seat is good for maybe an hour or two at best. I believe the Sargeant is the replacement in the spring.

Bestest of luck to you guys who are or are gonna ride this week.
I'm jealous as hell as I sit here in St Louis for 10 days as Wife visits all her relatives & friends and I pretend I'm having fun.
What we do to maintain peace & tranquility within the family unit!
