This is just a heads up to everyone planning on going to the 2011 WCRM.  Due to unforsee circumstances it has been canceled this year.  Sorry but without you there is no meet and turns out there is no you.

So just go to the National meet if you can and go have fun.  Maybe we can hook up in 2012.

After riding through a blizzard on 36 last year I am going to pass if WCRM is scheduled for the traditional weekend prior to Memorial Day.  It needs to be scheduled after the holiday weekend, and for reasons already discussed in a previous thread, I think June 3-5 is the best weekend.

I really don't care where it is as long as it is late enough in the year to have a reasonable expectation of some warm weather.  If the date is June 3-5 then Fortuna, Ukiah, or somewhere near the coast would be my choice, if the date is June 10-12 then it probably should be in Quincy (or somewhere east of I-5) so those wishing to attend the National are a half day closer to Custer.

I only asked that question to see if you were married to the two weekends you mentioned.  Looks like you aren't.

At this point I'm looking at the following:

WCRM on June 3-5th (Option 1): I ride down and back.  Work for 3 days. Load up my street bike and my race stuff in my trailer and haul it to Miller Motorsports Park (SLC).  Jump on the street bike the next day and go to the National. Return to SLC by Thursday night.  Friday-Sunday race weekend with WERA.  Head home Sunday night Monday.

WCRM on June 3-5th (Option 2): Load up the trailer with street bike and race stuff and head to SLC on the Wednesday before the WCRM.  Get out the street bike and ride it to the WCRM. From there head out on a long loop south through California over to Arizona, up through Colorado to the National.  From there get back to SLC Thursday night and Friday-Sunday race weekend with WERA.

WCRM on June 10-12th:  Load up the trailer with street bike and race stuff and head to SLC on the Wednesday before the WCRM.  Get out the street bike and ride it to the WCRM and then immediatly head back to the National.  From there get back to SLC on Thursday night.  Friday-Sunday race weekend with WERA.

Which one would you do?   Headscratch

I would not want to do option 3 because you would be riding SLC to WCRM to SLC to Custer to SLC....B.O.R.I.N.G....even at 90 mph.

Option 1 and 2 is almost a push for some good riding and depends on how important 3 days of vacation time are to you.  I would spend the 3 extra days of vacation time and take the big loop to the National.

It's a shame that the WCRM is falling apart.  It was a great event.

I guess Colleen is needed to make it work.

Think she'd sign up as a "remote organizer" for next year?  (if there's a next year?)

This happens every time when the national is in striking distance from the west coast.  Most of us would like to do both but end up choosing one or the other.  Also, many of us are tired of the multi-day soaking that seems to come with it being before Memorial day.  So I'm voting for the weekend of June 10.

Yeah I was thinking...I wonder how fast I can get to Reno from SLC on I-84.  I figure I could do 100mph for like 6 hours.

The real question really isn't the vacation.  Is the leaving the Wife for 2 weeks.

If we are talking about the weekend before or the weekend after Memorial Day, then we are talking about a 2 week difference...but I don't hear anyone voting for the weekend before Memorial Day...its back to which weekend in June...and I don't care at this point...we need someone...anyone (Colleen are you listening)... to make a decision...and it would also be nice to have a location.

There are at least 4 of us because I have a riding partner who asked me about it tonight..and the only time I ride to Ellensburg is when it is on the way to somewhere else.

I would really like to ride those northern California roads again this year (on dry pavement) and those roads all lead to Fortuna but if moving the event to Ukiah or somewhere else is what we need to get the interest and attendance back to what it used to be then lets do it...but we need to get started.

My ride to Hood River would be pretty boring but there is some pretty good riding in the general area.  Do you have a particular motel/meeting place in mind?

Sunset Motel and Full Sail brewery.  Bigsmile

Or if we combine with the National, we could have it in John Day on June 10th or someplace in Idaho.

That would certainly work for anyone in the NW who wants to go to the National.  How about Kamiah, ID?  There is good riding, moderately priced motels, and its only 150 miles from Missoula via Lolo Pass.

Sounds to me like the West Coast Regional Meet just became the NORTHWEST Regional Meet....

That might be true considering last year's WCRM attendance and the seemingly lack of interest from our California riders.

I don't know either, but it always seems to be sunny in Fortuna the week after WCRM.

I rode from Boise to Fortuna in 2008 and from Boise to Arcata in 2009 exactly a week after
WCRM with my daughter, and didn't get any rain. We did experience some rain while riding
through Oregon though.

When I lived in San Jose, we'd always wait until the 3rd weekend of June before heading
north to the redwood coast. That was the best compromise between good weather and
tourist traffic.

Hood River ... have only stopped there to get gas at the Chevron. Stayed at the Motel 6
in The Dalles with best rooms being on 2nd floor overlooking the east parking lot.

Sunset Motel and Full Sail brewery.  Bigsmile

Or if we combine with the National, we could have it in John Day on June 10th or someplace in Idaho.

I think John Day is good....more my liking than the place in Idaho.
