found in the December issue of Motorcycle Sport and Leisure  . . .

6K mile across much of Fortress Europa in 3 (?) weeks . . . .

"Review" in quotes as the rider works for the factory, and such, has a vested interest in a positive review.

Too be fair, he did write about a side stand problem (that has been fixed).

Good read -- worth the 17 and three quarters Stone

Here is a preview to the article -- > http://www.mslmagazine.co.uk/news/tiger-800-welcome-to-triumph-s-legitimate-gs-beater

They claim the writer, Bruce Wilson, as one of their own..   Headscratch

Oh, ok.  Seems strange that they used a factory person for a review - that is a move more likely to appear in the Triumph mag.

agreed -- (the author said he was meeting a photog to take pics for, wait for it, the Triumph Mag) . . . .

The British moto press has always been a bit breathless about Triumph . . . . .

There happens to be a very similar sounding story in the latest Triumph magazine, written by Julian Amos.  I wonder if it's the same story?

Thanks.  The article on the 800XC Tiger was well written and I found the Triumph factory rider to have an interesting perspective.

You can read it in Italian at http://www.fedrotriple.it/agg_2010_10/2010-triumph-magazine-008.pdf - or just look at the pictures.

They read alike enough that 20 minutes of editing (not much at all) could have separated one from the other (just got the Triumph mag last night).

The Tiger 800 XC looks like a suppurating wound on the buttocks of a fat man. Ugly, heavy, not at all useful, and too expensive.

I plan on repeating this to myself as much as necessary until the entirely unrealistic desire to purchase one NOW disappears.

Oh, and I won't be showing up, drooling and mumbling, at the Triumph booth at the Bike show next month in Rosemont.

Wouldn't be prudent.

The new Tigger looks to be quite the package.  These GS bikes really are a most flexible / competent package...tour, twisties, light / moderate dirt, comfortable ergos, plenty of get-up-and-go...the whole enchilada!

And the T-Bird photo spread is cruiser porn....  Not really my cuppa, but ....

Multo bene!  Grazie!

While I agree the Tiger XC is drool-worthy and represents an "Ultimate Do-Everything" bike, it was the new Speed Triple article that had me reading and savoring each word like popping gourmet stuffed mushrooms.  It's not that the writing was superb, but they were saying every thing that I wanted to hear, and every thing that I wanted the old 1050 Speed Triple to become - which was to say, making it ride more like my Street Triple R.  My head says that new Tiger 800 would be exactly what I need, but my heart/rod say that the Speed Triple is everything that I WANT.

Ditto, 'cept for the street version. I *may* be in Daytona for the races, and I tremble at the mere possibility of the bike being available for demo rides.

That was what I went through when reading about the GT, it addressed everything I wanted to change about the ST. My actual first encounter with the GT was a bit underwhelming, which maybe partly due to my interest in the XC...
