New Ducati ST on the way?
«
on:
January 10, 2011, 12:38:48 PM »
Dropped my ST4s off at MotoServizio in Signal Hill, Long Beach. Place is owned by Scott Waters who I highly recommend for work.
Scotty has some Ducati insideline info, and apparently there are very real rumours of a new Duc St coming. It will be a 1200.
Quick google search turned up this rendering:
http://www.coroflot.com/lookathesign/MOTORCYCLE-DESIGN/26?country=195
&
Don't know how realistic it is butt still...

It would be great to see Ducati put another ST back out on the roads.

Interesting. I figured the MS was it. I wonder what makes them think the ST is worth a go? Is this thing 90% MS whereas the ST3/4 was a unique platform?

IIRC, this was just a photoshop done using the 1200MS. I also remember reading that Ducati wasn't interested in doing another ST because that is the role of the Multi Strada Touring. But they said the same thing about building a power cruiser type bike(Diavel)
There is a big thread on this over at
ADV in road warriors
ducati.ms . That being said, I really like the looks of it. It would be a tough decision between that and the Multi, for me anyways.

Could they offer something sans ABS, Traction Control and multiple modes for significantly less? That's what I love about my 2005 ST3!

DL650 or Versys. They really are great bikes for the price.

I looked at both of those this weekend. Sitting next to the new Ninja 1000, they're a tough sell. You're right though - they're both excellent bikes for the price.

Wait, Mr. S., so you are saying you DON'T want your bike to look like another rolling jelly-bean with fairing? Wild.

More powerful stator & ability to carry 440 lbs (200 kg of rider + pillion and luggage) would turn the key for me.

What's with the Transformer look on all the fairings these days? I'd much rather have a rounded, aero look. And the shape of the side cases is way suboptimal for carrying capacity.

Just add a drive shaft and there night be a market for it. I'm thinking a few of the current models approach being a "ST", a new model should put emphasis on TOURING. No??
