You won't get a fight from me.  Everyone knows that the Blackbird is the VFR's daddy.

Not sure what you mean by long hauls. My '05 has almost 12K on it and I do about 12K annually on my FZ1 on top of that.

The longest run I've done on the RR is a 14 hour/600 mile day (The Region 6 Meet and Eat). Most of my trips on it have been day trips of 400 miles. Definitely not a good bike for getting from point A to point B in a hurry because I always end up finding the twisty route which may be three times further than slabbing.

The RR is my incentive to keep in shape Wink .

That's great to hear.  I guess as I get older, what is a comfortable ride position to me changes.  I used to ride GSXR's and such back in my 20's.  Now it just cramps me up.  I salute anyone putting true mileage on a sportbike.  Always happy to hear people riding instead of pond hopping.

Thanks.

When I was in my 20's, the sport bike to have in my area was the Honda CB1000F Hurricane and it was uncomfortable as hell. My ride at the time was a Yamaha 750 Seca. Now that I'm in my 40's, I'm in better shape now than I ever have been and the ergos of the RR suit me better than the ergos of a cruiser. I actually had to lower the bars on my FZ1 to get comfortable.

Nice lookin' bike.  I'm sure you'll blow right by me in the curves.  I can hold my own, but I didn't buy a bike solely to tear up the curves.  I would have bought something different if that's all I wanted to do.

Some guys would go out and buy a new vette.  I'd rather have a 67' 427 bigblock convertible.  Handles like shit, fun as hell to drive though. I'd love to see the country behind the wheel of one.  To each his own.

True story:

Last Saturday I rode to Montreal and Lennoxville (son's 21st birthday) and had the GPS on just for fun. A few hours into the trip I started playing with the buttons and the ride data screen pops up. All the info is fine except for some unknown reason the max speed readout has finally confirmed that the Honda Blackbird is the world's fastest bike. I assume that this can only happen on a red one. In any case, the max speed achieved by my bike on Saturday, November 26th 2006 was 1105 kmh.

So there. I wish I had had a camera with me. But regardless, I know the truth.

I'm surprised you found the 1000F to be uncomfortable.  I had a 1990 1000F and a 1999 1100XX at the same time and prefered the 1000F for longer rides, as I find it very comfortable for a sport bike.  The Blackbird was definately the choice for more "spirited" riding, but for actual "touring", I think that the 1000F is great.  BTW, that Blackbird is now gone and I still have the old 1000F.

Love the bird,  was considering the vfr but my mind was swayed the first time I sat on a blackbird and hit the starter button. The sound of that jet-powered sewing machine disconnected all the neural pathways between the fiscal reasoning portion of my mind and the hand that wrote the check.

Can't say that I do.  I've done some riding with sfarson, and everytime I meet someone new.  He knows and rides with more people than anyone I've known.
