Tagging along on a bike purchasing trip

I going with a friend tomorrow to a bike shop with the intent of him bringing a new guzzi home.

He is the reason I bought my Guzzi and now I'm almost as excited as if I was getting the bike!  Am I drunk on the kool-aid or what???

Just got back from RPM in Dallas and unloaded it.  Me thinks my friend has some bonding to do with it before sharing time!

1.  Induct your friend into the STN cult.  (Bwahahahahahahaha)

1. He got me into the STN cult!!! (Rabidsnipe) and he also is the one who turned me on to the 1200 Sport I bought!  1 is done.  

2. He has already hit a picture on his thread (about selling his FZ1 and being without a bike) when they had the seat off charging the battery.  He got a white V7 Classic.  IMHO, riding the V7 is close to "pure motorcycling Zen".  Those that had ridden them know what I mean.  


Yes it is an excellent trip.  At RPM, saw the Guzzis, Triumphs (Thruxtons are just motorcycle art), Aprillias, and KTMs.  Went next door to see some Suzuki and Honda's.  Looked at a lot of new bikes and wanted to have one of each!    Still on the honeymoon with my big Breva and wouldn't trade it for anything, yet.

We then went to his Mom's where her husband is in the middle of a "down to the frame" restoration and Cafe'ing (sp) of an old Honda CX 500.  Cool project.  Could have talked to him all day about that bike.

Super fun bike filled day!

I've had a chance to ride the V7 and my own Thruxton.

While the Thruxton has a better engine, the Guzzi feels like a better all around motorcycle, handling with aplomb.

I think it may be the Thruxton's clip ons that make it seem less planted in corners, I dunno.

Both are nice bikes

The white one is the best looking one, nice choice!
I much prefer the Classic to the Cafe, cuz the riding position on the Classic works much better given the bike's performance capabilities.

Got it home Saturday.  Must have gone to the garage 4 or 5 times just to check it out.  The white looks amazing in person; it is a pretty pearl white that just doesn't look as good in digital pictures.

Other than the 1.3 miles from the unload point back to my house, I haven't ridden it at all!  Hopefully I can get some nice pretty pictures here in the next couple of days before I get it dirty.  I have already ordered the center stand and luggage rack.

Congrats! The small block is such a fun motor and the bike looks soooo good.

I see you ordered the centerstand    That was the first mod I put on my Street Triple.

According to my local dealer - that V7 engine is used in the Predator drones for military ops.  Pretty rugged little engine.

Keep an eye on your oil level, the small block IIRC only holds about 2 quarts.  A popular mode is a deep sump conversion. (Deeper oil pan)

I've got my eye on the sump spacer (from GuzziTech) as a "must-buy".  However, I'm debating whether I should install it before, during, or after the 600 mile initial service.

Easisest to do it at the first service. Before that just check the oil after every ride and DON'T baby it too much while its new or the rings will never seat.
