Hi all,

I am a Honda ST1100 owner in Denver, Colorado. I used to ride in my teens in the UK and got my US license and back into riding in 2003.

Since then have done several long trips and 1000+ mile days. I consider the ST my primary transport and do about 12k miles/year leaving the snow days for the Subaru. I would describe my riding as moderately aggressive when carving canyons or ton-up cruising.

Previous bikes include (another) ST1100, BMW K100, Honda Magna, CB 650, Yamaha Virago and my current backup is a Suzuki GS 850. Also in the garage are a 76 Triumph Bonneville T140v and a 68 Trophy TR6c that need TLC.

I look forward to hitting a few meet ups and camping trips. My 12 year old daughter has caught the bug too and clicks up around 5k miles/year on the back seat. Her 600 miles/day range means when will do a few meets too. My wife can only take about half of than usually only does Colorado trips.

Welcome Mark Smile

Come warmer weather, riding season will pick up here in region 3, and hopefully will have some meets. Also, if your up for a longer ride/meet, check out the region 2 meet in Red River this year  - 3 day meet up, close to the Denver area.

Been in CO since '93. The beemer run looks interesting. I have been to Foothills a few times but usually to play on the Triumph open days. Will wait til later in the year to decide if I go for it.

So far have plans for IL in April, UT in May, SD in July and a few local CO events.

I bought this current '94 ST with an embarrassingly low 15k miles on it. Have put about 7k on it in 8 months, so it still needs to be "fixed".

Hmm maybe a 50cc ...

Welcome to the States and hope you enjoy Colorado. been on a bike for 25 years or so...
If you get over to the Western Slope send me a PM and maybe we could do a meet and eat.
My daughter turned 18 not too long ago so she is usually busy doing her own thing. That leaves me and the wife talking about doing some longer day trips around the state. We have some awesome roads over hear! I just got my ZX-11 in October and have been working at setting it up for longer distance comfort. Considering a SS1000 this year.

Yup there are some good roads on that side of the hill. I have done the million dollar hwy several times, and been from Cortez to Dinosaur on a 1000 mile round Colorado. We have also camped in Ouray, nice area.

I have to get "official" with the IBA and do a SS or a BBG at some point this year, then probably look to do a longer run.

Planning on being in Moab May 13-15th, and will probably go into Fruita on Saturday or Sunday for miketheheadlesschicken.org (looks cheesy but an excuse for a ride).

Where are you?

The chicken festival is pretty corny but fun at the same time. I enjoy the car show and carnival style food vendors. Great time of the year to be out and about... If you get a chance, you should shoot across the Colorado National monument when you're here. The west entrance is just outside the town of Fruita with22 miles of awesome views and roads.

Moab is a great place! shame I've live so close to it and have only been there a few times. I've been planning to attempt several trips that way this year...

I live in Grand Junction.

Yeah, and the ride from Grand Junction to Moab is great either way you go. I love taking NM 128 down from I-70, great road, even though they chip sealed a big portion of it. But it's at least a good chip seal job, rolled and packed tight. Or you can shoot down CO 141 to Naturita and cut over on CO 90/NM 46 through Paradox Valley - that's a great road, and the views in Paradox Valley are awesome.

Hey Justin,

When your Busa faced this looking west down the gun barrel of CO90 towards Bedrock/Paradox, before the climb to the Sharp Canyon into Utah, you did keep things at 60mph didn't you.  Yes?   Smile

On that ride I was actually heading east (returning from Utah), but regardless, I think I did get a bit crazy and hit 65  Lol

I have a friend from the Denver area coming over this year when passes permit, and we're going to make that whole area a loop. G.J. 141 to 90, west to 191 north through Moab to 128 and then I-70 home.
Just shy of 300 miles. Should be a great day!

Welcome Mark.  Give me a shout if you want to explore the Northern mountains.  Couple of secret roads up here we don't tell just anybody about but now that you're a actual resident we'll share.
