Went through Silver City , NM today and noted that we have lost both shops there.... Mountain Sports/ ATV and Copper Country Cyclesports( KTM dealer on 90). Bummer if you need parts in SW NM. So it's Las Cruces, Tucson or El Paso to get parts.

Do you live in Silver City? I have a great aunt that lives there. It's been quite a while since the last time I was there. IIRC there was a BMW dealership or shop in Deming. But that's been maybe 15 years ago.

Live in Deming. The Deming BMW, Honda, Yam shop has been closed for 2 yrs. The 2 in Silver City just went out at the end of 2010 so no shops selling parts West of Las Cruces Motorsports. This recession is really taking a toll on them. They can't get financing for new bikes and no one wants them for the price anyway. That's the word I get from most all dealers. Seems like it would occur to them that they need to start their own financing system.

NM doesn't have a lot of folks with disposable income. Certainly none to spare. For most of these folks a motorbike is a weekend toy, a luxury - not their regular transportation. Right now they're all struggling to buy groceries. Craigslist is full of bikes for sale, and a noticeable number of those still have payments due on them. Very sad, but I'm not surprised at all that outside the big city (Albuquerque) dealers have closed. Even in ABQ one of the better dealers of Jap bikes (Motorsport on Montgomery) closed. They had the last mechanics I knew of who really knew old Hondas like the CB750 SOHC4.
