Well I am looking to purchase my next bike.  I really want the newer SP3.
Any riders out there have any input on this bike?  pros/cons?  history?  repair costs and maintenance?
I love the look and riding position of the bike.

Help a brotha out!!

Cheers and look forward to all info!!

2005 was the first year of the previous generation, which lasted 2005-10.  In 2008 the model was updated with a stronger rear subframe, Brembo brakes, metal gas tank, and different wheels.

Minor services are every 6k, major services are every 12k.  I would expect the major services to cost around $500 - depending on how much work you do on your own, that number can be reduced.

Capitol Area Triumph is a good local dealer.  They have a white 2009 demo model available for sale at discount.  I used the demo overnight and wrote up my impressions in another thread.  The short of it - I prefer my Street Triple R, but the Speedie is a damn good bike.  Hermy's is also a good local dealer - they have a 2001 model for $3500.

Good luck - see you on the road

I have an 07 and I love it. I've done everything from daily commutes to IBA runs on it. The 1050 I-3 engine is a kick in the pants.

Go through the Triumph sub-Forum, you'll find quite a few who have them.

The only issue I've had with mine was a broken shift linkage bolt. Fixed under warranty. I had the bike gone over and had a couple of valves just outside of manufacturer spec. Once they were dialed in the engine sang.

Best description I've heard about the Speed Triple. It's like that one uncle that no one in the family talks about but somehow got invited to the wedding. He's loud obnoxious, hooks up with a bridesmaid at the reception, belches and farts, but is the absolute life of the party, ends up in all of the pictures wearing his tie as a headband and leaves an impression on anyone who is fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to run across him.

I say DO IT!!!!

If I didn't have a Sprint 1050, it'd have a Speed Triple 1050!  The engine is sweet!   Inlove

IMHO the best street motor going.  The bottom end of a big twin with just enough top end to make life interesting when you want to wick it up.  And then this sound Inlove

Functionally the only thing I didn't like was the stock saddle because there's not a lot of room to move.  Maybe an after market solution to this?

You need to decide if you want a pre 2007 or 2008-up.   The '08 has a revised sub frame and cool 10 spoke wheels.  The Triumph TOR cans are gone, replaced by Arrows.
Bike is bulletproof and a lot of fun.  Suspension is adjustable but over damped.
For my money, I would buy an '08-'10 simply because it's the latest version prior to the '11's.

I have a beautiful white 2007.  I'm not desperate but am realistic if you want to make an offer. Smile

I ride an 09 S3 and it has been by far the best bike I've owned. It's great for short romps and if you are willing it will "tour"...rode mine to Indy MotoGP twice from PA. 1st year went thru Canada, 2nd year all the way down thru Kentucky. Never missed a beat, handled baggage (read large tank bag/saddle bags and tail bag) with little to no ill affect. Put over 8 hours/ 300+ miles a day on it and was never really hurting, but of course alittle sore.

Riding position is subjective to height, anyone over 5'-10" generally complains about ergo's, but a set of drop pegs and bar risers or different bars fixes that pretty easily. It does like to eat tires, some people can't get happy with the stock suspension (it is alittle limited in adjustments), and the MPG is all about throttle control.

Forgot to add...the 1050 motor...nothing like it, nothing at all.  Bigok

They're great, but more power than I need.  The engine is a monster, and has lots of character (while still being reliable)

I would consider selling mine, so send me a PM if you're looking.
