Ya know , it's 4f outside .

Suzuki is going to be coming out with something very special for the 2012 liter bike. Insiders says so anyway.

I think it will most likely come with a 67-72 degree V-4 engine package. For the market slot the GSX-R fits into , a V-4 would be the natural progression towards answering some of the problems seen in road racing these days < Honda HRC still don't get it  Razz> Ooops, that's another topic.

In 2009 Suzuki took the GSV-R 800 to the Isle of Mann for some press . On the Sulby straight, it hit 202 mph.

The 800 is just a destroked/de-bored version of the 2004-2006 GSX-R 990 MotoGP bike . Same basic head/case castings were used. Suzuki has been developing in house traction control and other electronics. They own it , not leased like some other teams. They could use it on street bikes to help pay for the development - if they choose  Smile

Adding up  the new claimer rule, going back to the 990 displacement, this seems just perfect timing . If it turns out to be so , here's it's Dad from 2004 and 2005.

Ill believe it when I see it, but considering Aprilla's good results with a V4  I think it would be a good change from the inline 4 that is the standard Japanese design and seems to have reached its limit.   Honda obviously tried years ago to make the V4 the new standard for superbikes and failed but maybe now is the right time.

Just a topic for conversation you know and who knows what the future will bring, but for now , sure seems some of these newer engines with altered firing orders are recipes for gas guzzlers on the street .

Cross Plane Yamaha , VFR1200F as example.

On topic, a single GSX-R in the WSB paddocks this year ? Hmmm.
