SS1000 to see the last shuttle launch...

June 28 looks like the last Shuttle launch. As a science geek this seems a chance to combine two loves. Grand Rapids, MI to Cape Canaveral, FL, roughly 1300 miles. Could be cool.

The launch is scheduled for 3 something in the afternoon. I'm figuring a ss1000 or so, hit the rack, finish up the next day, watch the launch, and come back over a two-day period. At least that's the current plan. Basically a 4 day trip, Mon-Thursday.

While I truly hope it won't be the case, you do realize that a launch is often delayed? Most folks plan to stay a few days, if not a week, beyond the scheduled time.

That's where this teaching gig might work out well- yesterday over lunch my wife mentioned that if it is delayed I'd be in good shape since I could leave with a day's notice. At least that's my plan- leave the day before scheduled launch and give it a shot. I could stay a couple extra days, if need be.
Good woman I have!

This seems like a good excuse to ride somewhere. I don't know folks around here well (yet), but I might be able to meet up there if folks are cool with that. I've never seen a shuttle launch, and I'd really like to. Thread subscribed

During any delay(s), you can always mosey on down to Key West on US-1.

That would be a nice ride. An all highway SS1000 could be a piece of cake.

I'm not saying it would be hard- I'm just saying it would get me there fast.

Clay got a new bike? An SS1000?
Hope it's comfortable enough to ride to the launch!
