I am going to buy a new bike in the next few weeks. A new leftover 1100 Breva is on the top of my list.

I have seen sorting, sorted or once it sorted mentioned a few times when discussing Moto Guzzis. Are there problems I should expect to have to get sorted out before I can depend on the Breva?

If you are buying it from Moto Nexus they should have it set up and ready to go. The problem is that there are few GUZZI dealers who really know how to set one of them up or are willing to take the time and effort to do so.

Good luck,

...Are there problems I should expect...?

No;  just ride it.  Expect no problems.  It will be a wonderful motorcycle for you.  The Breva is a great do-everything  bike.

Reading forums might give you the idea that without being touched by a heavenly mechanic a Guzzi will have the power of a moped and handle not much better.  Ride it; see how you like it; come back if something seems not-quite-right.

If it is a VERY early model, (2006) then it is worth checking that it isn't eligible for the CARC recall or, if it is, that it has been done. Other than that ALL the 2 valve per cylinder CARC bikes come with their TPS set wrong ex-factory. I have no idea why, it is just the way it is. Correcting it is about five key strokes with Navigator/Axone or one of the other diagnostic tools and while it won't do any harm if its off the bike will generally run sweeter if it is correctly set, quite often this is done at the first service, (When all this stuff should be checked anyway.) but I always do it before I send a bike I've PD'd out the door.

Other than that? Don't 'Kid Glove' it during the break in period.Simply ride it 'Normally'. Don't be afraid to give it the odd burst to higher RPM and very early in the piece you can help bed the rings by sticking it in 'one gear too high', say third at about 3,000rpm, and giving it a big fistfull for a few seconds. Do that a few times to seat the rings and it'll stop using oil earlier and perform better in the long run.

As Daniel says though. Don't fuss. Just ride it. Lots!!!!

Do the early Brevas have the ethanol/fuel line issue?

I bought a leftover 2008 by email from MI in Seattle.  IIRC, they asked me my height and weight and the suspension was adjusted pretty close to my liking when it arrived.  MI seems to do a good job of bike set up.

I've had a few warranty issues, but nothing that was not taken care of, or different from most other makes and had to get the TPS and FI "adjusted" in the first couple of thousand miles.  Now it just runs sweet.  From my experience, the sorting bit is to add farkles and adjust the bike to fit you.
