I rented an ST1300 for a couple days and thoroughly enjoyed the time.  If it's what you want to ride now, good deal.   Bigok

Use to have one and liked it. They are very competent bikes. you should visit st-owners.com if you haven't already.

Congrats!

V4 power, shaft drive, plenty of electrical power for add'l lighting, heated grips and gear, etc.

Fast, smooth, well-balanced...great weather protection, too.

+1 on the ST Owners board...and rear tip-over bars do a fine job of protecting your panniers etc..

I'm on my second one and it's sweet, fits me and is the right tool for my kind of riding, solo long distance.
It does everything well from carving canyons to taking you across 3 state borders for lunch.
I loaned it to an HD riding friend, who only rides HD, and he came away thorougly impressed.
He thought he'd never like anything but a cruiser.

You made an excellent choice.

Good choice. I retired my '81 Gold Wing in favor of the ST. I have no regrets. A little more labor intensive for maintenance, but the ABS, linked brakes, extra displacement, and fuel injection make up for it. Took it cross country in 2007.

I'm glad I waited for the R version.  It's got 25 more horses but it little weighs more.

I went from a VFR to my ST1300a. The VFR is my backup now.  So I have a sport and a touring bike. Love them both.

Have fun in the world of long-distance sport riding: the ST1300 is a solid, plush, and sporty mount

Why ask for thoughts after your purchase - if everyone on here said it was a POS; what would you do about it now - and would you really care ?

That said - welcome to the George Jetson bike club  Lol

I really love mine.

Definately not a poser machine, it's built for the long run all day everyday.   I've always liked that bike despite the newer tourers on the market.
