Folks,

I finally busted out of the ABQ for a nice 5 day swing into Tucson, Tombstone and Silver City.  12 coming out of Reserve was sketch with small patched of ice every so often, but the ride down Hwy 180 was nice.

Anyone know the condition of NM 152?

Yup was on it yesterday. They laid chip seal on it last year so speeds are way down. It has new edge /center lines. Of course a little loose red gravel/de-icer in railroad canyon and just before Emory Pass about 6 turns. Otherwise good to go. have fun.

So jealous. Bikes are sitting on battery tenders while work hauls me around the country.

MAN!  The chip seal on Hwy 152 turned a great road into a death march!  I couldn't wait to put it behind me.

Sad

They were doing NM4 the same way last year. WTF.

Someone, somewhere, posted a thread to complain about this sort of thing, in Region 2?

That was my thread called NM 152 TOTALLY SCREWED UP!  If you hate this chip-seal process here is the number I called that got some reaction....1-800-444-0745. Ask for state hiway engineer Trent Dolittle. All that chip seal is his idea. DUC OT, you should have seen 152 BEFORE they brushed it and lined it. IT is way BETTER now than it was in Jan. Let's get on this guy B4 he ruins every road in the state. There was NOTHING WRONG with 152 when they chipped it either! They will ruin your favorite road next. This Dolittle is the guy that decides.

Thanks Buls -- I had a recollection it was you, but can't hurt to get it into more and more threads.

I drove NM 4 up to the Caldera in early January and it was is in much better shape then than Hwy 152 is now.  I may have to take the Duc up there tomorrow to check the status.

Expat, you need to yank one of the bikes off of life support and run a tank of gas through it!

I must have missed your post when I was down in Tombstone.  What this about trading in your bikes?  Tell us good chap; what did you trade them in on?

Yeah, and I posted about it after my ride through last year Sad

NM 152 went from one of my favorite roads to a big pile of crap. Surface was so loose and unsafe when I rode it last year that you couldn't even enjoy the scenery.

Totally offtopic. Little slow touring Ducati.

PJ and Jonesy are the debil, I tell you. And being just 45m walk from my house is even worse.

I'm so glad to not have to ever talk to R&S Westside again.

WildKatB,  "chip-seal" is that process where a sticky tar medium that is thick is sprayed on a road followed by a layer of fine stone. It is supposed to be rollered in with a heated roller....but they usually skip that process figuring that our 4 whl brethren will pack it down. It really sucks!
