If you look at it from this angle the swingarm doesn't look any longer than any other BMW:


I think it's the minimalist tail section that leaves the rear wheel looking stuck way out there.
When I saw it in the metal at the Birmingham NEC show it looked fine to me. I think the exhausts could be done better but they wanted to emphasize the fact that it's a six cylinder bike.
